I am writing this review on behalf of my wife. Seneca's GEA English program is absolutely a waste of money and time. Below is our experience with Seneca's GEA English program:
My wife was going to enroll in GEA English for Academic purposes program as a "Full-time" student. The admission center told us do an assessment test. We booked the test they suggested and paid $35. After one month it turned out that the test was for "Part-time' students not full-time (Stress as we were closing to the admission deadline).
She eventually did the assessment test for full-time students and got her admission (Level 500). We registered. After two weeks from beginning of the semester, new students appeared in her class and guess what? They got admission WITHOUT any assessment exam (What a sloppy admission system!).
Despite the fact that she got admitted for the 500 level, 99% of her classes were shared with quite beginner students who didn't know the difference between "an" and "a". This one made my wife to think every second she was spending in Seneca was a waste of time and money (Inefficient evaluation and level rating system).
Not even a SINGLE person explained the difference between GEA-EPA levels to us. We almost was sure that the whole system is a business to get peoples money and not to do a quality education work.
Advisers and some teachers were often grumpy and impatient. Some body should remind them that this is their job to explain things patiently for students. This is their duty and that's what they get paid for (Very disappointing that advisers and teachers must be reminded about their duties).
Overall, if you have other options (particularly for English programs), consider other places if you can. Long commute to a high quality school is much better than a close but disorganized and low...
Read moreSigned up for an online continuing education language course. The day of the first lecture, there was no email, update, message, anything. I called into IT support and was put in queue for an hour and 20 minutes. by the time I got to first in line, it was 8:20pm (lecture runs from 7-10pm) but got a message saying "technical difficulties, please try again later." There is no support for the students, and it's awful considering it's the first week of classes. I sent them an email asking for help and added that "if I am not able to catch up, please tell me how to drop the course."
I called in again on another day since there was no helpful response when someone finally answered after 30 minutes of queuing. I needed to be transferred 4 times in order to talk to someone who could actually help me. I still wasn't able to see any course information.Turns out I was dropped from this course (?!?!?!) without any request or paperwork filled out on my end (which was apparently not a requirement despite expressly stating so on their website) and my tuition was refunded but they retained 25$.
Think twice about applying to this college. There's limited support in the evenings and the IT support has long wait times. I basically paid 25$ to them for a course that I was never enrolled into, and dropped without my request/confirmation. I'd really like to get my 25$ back but if that's the fee for not having to deal with this tomfoolery again, then that's fine.

Read moreA quick complaint about seneca residence... Seneca Residence over the past year has worked hard to provide students with new accommodations to the residence such as better study lounges, games room, movies room ect.. Students that attend this residence also pay a high profit to be able to live in this residence. students should have access towards their accommodations they pay for and feel as if they are at "home." While currently living in residence , I feel as if these needs and the " home" standards are never met. I constantly have problems within my renovated room, with staff and the new lounges, as my roommate, friends and I were kicked out of the movie room while playing a video game with no ruckus , nor noise complaints involved. The reason was due to, " if someone stole something out of this room you wouldn't want to be blamed." Meanwhile there are cameras. The only other option was to go back to our crowded cemented dorm rooms... As a possible solution to this problem, Seneca staff should look into signing out a key for that room and since the RAs have so much time on their hands they could check after the key was returned if everything was kept in the appropriate place and lounge rooms. Drop the fees if nothing is going to be provided for...
