Cult Salon — Local services in Vancouver

I've been going to this salon for about a 13 months, initially seeing one of the hair stylists for bang trims. Over time, she became my regular stylist for around eight months, and I would see her every month for root touchups, trims, and other services. Unfortunately, despite multiple chances, she failed to deliver on her promises to even out my hair color and improve its overall state.

One major issue was the inconsistent root touchups, which didn't match the rest of my hair. When I brought it up with her, she claimed it was because I was planning to go lighter in the future, which made no sense since the rest of my hair wasn't matching my roots. The result was so bad that I had to Photoshop my roots in photos. Although she eventually corrected this mistake, the toner or dye she used would wash out quickly.

Recently, she told me she was no longer offering root touchups and would only provide one or two services going forward. I was taken aback since she hadn't mentioned this previously. When I asked if she could recommend another stylist at the salon, she didn't respond, which I found very odd.

In my experience, this salon is good for haircuts, trims, and bang trims, but not for coloring. Booking appointments has been frustrating, as I could only go through my stylist directly and often encountered obstacles. It's also disappointing that the salon doesn't have a proper website to book appts or phone number that works. I had to continuously text the Hair Stylist to book an appointment and it was extremely hard to get a hold of her at times or book a proper time to see her, I would have to take time off work or miss meetings in order to come in. This Hair Stylist also had another job somewhere else so I felt that Her time at the salon was not her priority and it showed.

I feel like my stylist only cared about making money and didn't genuinely care about me as a client or my hair. My hair doesn't look as good as it did before I started going to her, and I regret wasting so much time and money here. Despite giving her the benefit of the doubt, I was ultimately...

UNPROFESSIONAL! If I could give zero stars, I would. I have been going to Stephanie for the past couple of years, and there has never been an issue, but a month ago she had to cancel my appointment and asked me to reach out to another stylist to rebook at her salon, whom she gave me the contact info's of. I booked with manechickchar who ruined my hair! The day of my appointment I walked in with very light, ash blonde hair, I was there to get my roots done, I specifically told her multiple times that i want my roots the same color - ash blonde! She didn't listen to me once, and did her own thing without communicating anything. After the first toner, I told her this isn't what I want, I don't like the color it's too yellow so she put in the toner again and this time it was DARK BROWN!! Nearly 6 hours of being there I was super annoyed and in tears as she just ruined my hair.. she asked for me to come back to "fix" my hair - If you didn't listen to me the first few times I told you what I want, what makes you think I'm going to have you "fix" my hair! I lost all trust in her! I reached out to Stephanie who did not care at all, she posted on IG that she will be back mid July and taking appointments for the weekend only, when I reached out for her to fix my hair she has been ignoring me! I'm glad I didn't have to pay for this disgusting hair color! Stephanie doesn't care about loosing her clients and she doesn't care that HER stylist ruined my hair!! Avoid going this place if you want to deal with people who doesn't listen to you and a manager/owner who doesn't give a sh*t! UNPROFESSIONAL AND DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS!! WORST HAIR...

There are many things in life that I try to be good at, but when it comes to my hair, from maintaining to styling, I am probably the worst. Steph has been my stylist for many years now, and I am extremely happy every time I walk out of her salon. Most often, all I have to say is “I want to be __.” and she makes the magic happens.

Till this day, even though I moved to NYC, I wait until I visit home to get my hair done exclusively by Steph. When I am indecisive, which is very often, I put my trust in Stephanie and her vision and the results never disappoints. What I appreciate about Steph is that she isn’t afraid to tell you if a certain cut / colour will not suit you and make other recommendations, which is important for someone who has little knowledge about hair.

Her cute new salon is at a convenient location and even offers quick nail services by Emily! But the best part about the salon aside from the talented stylists, is the ambience. You’d come in, have fun and walk out looking...
