Really disappointed from my visit here and the interaction I had with the colourist. I came in looking to get my hair coloured from brown to ash brown. I showed pictures to the guy doing my hair and he told me we needed to bleach my hair. I said that was fine and he told me he couldnāt do it today in the appointment time I had already booked because I booked a hair colouring appointment and should have booked a bleaching appointment. I had already left the details of the condition of my hair and even called in about my appointment right after booking my appointment online so the receptionist did see my comments on the details of my hair and even read the details aloud to me and did not correct me with the appointment I selected. I explicitly said my hair was currently dyed brown. I am no expert in hair dying so I did not know my hair needed bleaching. Did they expect me to come in with bleached hair already? I wish I could have been provided with that information at the time when I called in. I asked for baby lights in my hair which he was not familiar with so I said it was okay to do a balyage or any other way if he could get it to this picture and he just told me I canāt do it. I asked what was the lightest brown he could do and he just told me we canāt do it. I felt I was prying for information and I wish I was given options. I would have really appreciated to hear āWe canāt do this but if you really wanted your hair done today, we can do something else such asā¦ā but all that was said to me was āCanāt do itā. In the end, I wished to be more communicated to in this process because he made me feel like it was my fault for not knowing the correct appointment as well as not contacting him personally. As a business, I feel that for any customer it is important to fully inform them of any details and inquiries regarding their needs. I would have much rather been sent home knowing I had options but in this case I was sent home with a bunch of noās. I hope in the future they will provide adequate information to their customers and try to communicate...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI got a hippie perm at this salon and unfortunately did not get the results I was looking for. I had sent over a few pictures of what I wanted on IG, but when it came time for the appointment we barely did a consultation before getting started on my hair. I understand that we chatted a little about it online but I think if she had taken a few minutes to really discuss what I wanted it would have turned out better. Also, my hair did not turn out like the photos I sent either.
She did ask if I wanted to keep my layers and how much shorter I wanted my hair, and I let her know yes Iād like to keep them and 1 inch. She ended up cutting way more off, closer to 3-4. She mentioned that I had a lot of damage, and I would have been fine with cutting more if we had a conversation about it. But there was no further talk before she cut everything off.
I would have been okay with this if the perm at least turned out how I wanted, but it is pretty flat/straight at the top and difficult even with tons of curl cream to get it to hold its curl. Iāve gotten over 10 perms in my lifetime so I know my hair holds them well and how to take care for them, so it isnāt an issue on that front. When leaving the salon I thought it looked fine, but within a day the flatness at the top showed up.
Itās been about 2.5 months now since the perm and now the rest of my hair is losing its curl fast. My hair holds perms pretty well and Iāve been able to go 6+ months with little change in the past, so Iām pretty disappointed by this result.
The stylist offered me a discount on a future haircut or one for my family since I donāt live in Vancouver which was appreciated. However, I donāt think the discount offered was that good nor do I trust my hair with this salon anymore. Overall, if there was more consultation and conversation perhaps my hair could have turned out better, but given the results after 2.5 months Iām not really sure if that would have made things better. The atmosphere of the salon was good, and the hairstylist was sweet, but this isnāt the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreToday - colour, cut and toyko treatments. Always love spending time there. Thanks again JULIE!!!
Update: THREE additional treatments with Julie. It was 5 hours of pure bliss with an exceptional root and head massage, heated neck towel and lie-down washing stations. 1) ROOT TOUCH UP first where every hair in my head was sectioned and had colour applied to each section. She is meticulous and so attentive to catch even the errant strands - especially some of the difficult areas as my hair re-grows from alopecia 2) AMINO ACID SMOOTHING TREATMENT - to straighten and smooth out my natural wavy hairs whilst addressing the wiry new growth from the alopecia. Now, after a blow dry and flat iron - my hair is fabulous! 3) Cut, I went for a shorter, fun cut - with BANGS! Looks so awesome! I feel incredible. Itās been 2 weeks now and EVERY day I get compliments. Love love love Julie!!
Honestly - I canāt even begin to describe how incredibly AWESOME this salon is. Iāve been a few times now and each time I had to remind myself it was a salon and not a spa - thatās how amazing it is!!! Julie is shocking with her intense knowledge of the hair/scalp and products. I have had a Toyko treatment. A hair cut. Roots done. And booked in soon for a 4 hour straightening treatment. My daughter also has several treatments booked this month with Julie. We have lived around the world and I have not seen this level of professionalism, knowledge and TLC all in one local salon and ONE stylist - in Yaletown! My hair looks and feels gorgeous - itās the best itās been in years!! Thank you Julie - canāt wait to see you again. Youāll...
