First of all I wanted to say that the dining experience was great, staff were overall friendly and helpful when we had questions and everything was beautifully prepared and tasted amazing!
Unfortunately… the reason for the 3/5 rating is due to them telling us that they had a reservation and basically saying we had to leave before they arrived. First of all no where on the website or our online reservation booking was there a time limit. Secondly while we would gladly leave to make room for the next reservation if the place was packed, when we left there were only 2 other couples in the restaurant, with at least an entire row completely empty… given that the 2 of us spent a combined total close to $300 you’d expect to not really get rushed out. The initial warning was fine, a little shocking at first since we weren’t aware of a time limit, but then when we asked about our dessert and the portion to see whether we should cancel the orders, we didn’t get the best impression when the lady checked her watch before answering since it just felt like they were just waiting for us to leave.
Word of advice? I think next time if this similar situation occurs, it would be best to let the party know of any reservations after theirs when they arrive at the restaurant, or see depending on the situation of the restaurant how busy or not busy it is when it’s close to the next reservation so that your customers don’t feel rushed, especially spending that amount of money.
Overall yes the food there was amazing, but for service like that I wouldn’t necessarily go back there for a date night, especially since there’s so many other sushi restaurant...
Read moreI came here with my family for my mom's birthday and it was a giant let down. Saw the reviews online and thought it would be a good place to take my mom. On arrival we were relocated to a table on the patio which was awesome. The original seating was at the counter, however, it had one person on the opposite corner and the other three together, so it was nice of the host to offer a table. After that everything was downhill. First, nobody brought water, I think it wasn't until 30 minutes into our seating that finally on the second time asking we got water. Nobody explained the concept of the menu to us and it was our first time there so we had to flag down someone. We placed our order after a good while of just sitting with the menu but weren't asked if we wanted drinks. I had to ask if we could order them. All the drinks came at different times. We ordered 3 miso soups and one came out almost immediately with the others coming out 10 minutes after. We got a roll of sushi 20 minutes before the rest of the food and they forgot one of the oshi's so we had to re-order it. The food was average, not bad but not worth the price. It's INCREDIBLY overpriced for the food you get. My boyfriend left hungry as he didn't want to order more for the price. Cherry on top of it all, we went for my mom's birthday... no one said anything to my mom and I mentioned in the reso we were coming to celebrate a birthday. Not asking for something free, just a 'Happy Birthday' would've been plenty. A manager brought free mochi as an apology for the service, however, doesn't really fix the night. Never ever returning, feel...
Read moreWe had dinner last weekend. We made reservation and when we arrived, we were seat promptly. We enjoy sushi handrolls bar very much and was looking forward to try this new restaurant. After ordering, the sushi chef (Japanese chef) began making our orders. Everything tasted fine until another sushi chef came out. He appeared to be inspecting if everything was going well, then he picked up a container that had green onions in it. He was not wearing a mask and he stuck his whole nose into the container to smell it. He did that twice. As a customer who is about to have a negitoro roll, I was very put off seeing his nose inside my food. Then he used the back of his hand to feel the temperature of the tempura. Wasn't sure about hand hygiene at this point. Other people working there had gloves on. After touching the tempura, he then put on gloves and start making handrolls.
The food itself tasted fine. At one point, I had to leave my seat to bring my child to the washroom. I thought the chef would hold the rolls (clearly I assumed wrong). When we returned there are 2 rolls waiting for us, seaweed not crunchy anymore.
I ordered the aburi ebi sushi as well. The server actually came and snatched the plate away about 0.5 sec after I took the last piece of sushi. Wasn't sure what the rush was, the plate bang against my glass and it was quite startling.
Would I return? Sure if friends want to come for dinner, will I choose this restaurant myself,...
