This store does not deserve one star but had to in order to post this review. Hudson House Trading in Gastown has had a terrible reputation in the Indigenous community for years. But I thought I would give them another chance today. The saleswoman (and I use this term lightly) who answered the phone, with an accent, was extremely rude and unprofessional not to mention racist (and I never use this term lightly). I was looking for a First Nations item and she proceeded to say some very rude statements to me not to mention racist and in midst of me speaking about the item, she hung up on me. I called back right away to speak to the manager or owner however she would not answer the phone then continued to hang up the phone each time after. Who knows if she is the manager or not, what a frightening thought. That this behaviour and conduct is tolerated in any capacity is unacceptable. This is beyond being ignorant or uneducated. When you sell Indigenous crafts, art or ANY representation of Indigenous Peoples and behave like this, it is simply unacceptable. Period. To be told they are only interested in tourism sales is reprehensible. Please do not shop at this store or support it in any way. I will be reporting it to appropriate agencies as well as on social media. It is indefensible and only reinforces this store and business do not care about Indigenous Peoples but only serve to profit from their culture...

So I brought this to this store and said nicely âI would like to exchange this one Cuz it has the scratch at the backâ But the one Indian woman cashier said â We cannot exchange this for you, Cuz you already open this Then we canâtâ as SO aggressively. So I told her about the receipt and said there was no such thing as not being able to exchange it once it's already opened But the cashier woman kept repeating her self â We cannot exchange cus you already opened â as loud and so aggressively. And I also saw one guy before me whoâs paying, She was also aggressive to that guy and to the other people.    Read moreThe lady in charge of the window which possibly is in charge of the store visual merchandising was so rude. I nicely asked to try a hat that was the last one left in store which I can clearly see that is reachable by hand and I even said I can grab it by myself to save them some work. She said no because itâs hard. Then I ask when they change the floor set so I can just come back and get the hat. She then said I wonât like it because itâs been there for a year and it already looks ugly and faded. I asked to leave my contact so they can contact me once they change the floor set to atleast they it on then she started to get mad and be rude to me. They are literally working with so many tourists and being rude is not the way to communicate. I donât really leave reviews but wow Iâm speechless for how rude she was.
