We had an affordable meal at Thai Basil on West Broadway. This place is very affordable. Our Order: Deep Fried Tofu Green Curry with Japanese Eggplants and Chicken Pad Khing with Beef Thai Iced Tea Thai Iced Coffee Jasmine Rice Here are two dishes I highly recommend: Deep-fried tofu ($6.50) is crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and absolutely addictive! It's perfect as a starter or a snack. Green curry with Japanese eggplants and chicken ($12.25) is creamy and flavourful, with just the right amount of spice. It's a must-try for curry lovers! Overall, Thai Basil Restaurant offers excellent value for money and Thai flavours.🌿🍛 📝📝 Food: 🥘🥘🥘 Can Try! Service: 👩‍🍳👩‍🍳👩‍🍳 Kids: 👶👶👶 A-Ok for kids. Price: Average $30 per person (dinner) Presentation: 📷📷 Parking: Street parking available in the neighbourhood Tips: 📝 Great value for quick Thai food on the go. 📝 Small venue with limited seating (max four tables). 📝 Order at the counter, and they'll bring the food to your table. 📝 Lots of takeout orders and fast service. Would I Return: Maybe

If you're thinking about trying it, go, and I don't think you'll be disappointed. I've been recommended this place a bunch of times, and finally my friend suggested we go. They got the yellow curry and I the BKK pad thai.. 10/10 for both by casual thai dining standards. The noodles were fresh and the flavour profiles for both dishes were full and complex enough (not a boring pad thai or curry). We'll be back! Review update: I took away a star because the takeout fried rice was so overwhelming. It did not taste authentic, more like the sort of fried-rice you'd get as takeaway from a grocery store. Also, the portion was very small for the price (with the pad-thai too, the portions are smaller when you order takeout compared with what you get when dining in). I'd only recommend going to this restaurant if you're going to dine in, hence the 4 stars. Otherwise, it's overpriced in my opinion.

We ordered from Thai Basil a few times and the quality was always been hit or miss. Lately more of a miss. Quality and presentation have definitely gone down and seems like the food is rushed and thrown into containers. Just convenient as we live close. But last night we ordered pineapple rice, Pad Thai and PAd Prik Khing. The rice was stale, the beef was rubbery and the pad thai was dry and didn't taste like anything. I actually felt sick after eating. I decided to politely call them to let them know. The girl that picked up honestly just didn't care. She asked if we are calling to order again or just camplin... We will not order here again and would not recommend anyone their food. There a a few other places nearby that are just a bit more expensive but the quality is way way better.

I've been a Thai basil fan since they first opened and have spent hundreds upon hundreds of dollars at their Broadway location.

I wont ever eat there again after today.

I called to order for takeout and right after I hungup the phone I realized I wanted the wok with the spicy sauce instead of the garlic sauce. So I immediately call them back. Not even 2 minutes had passed since I'd called to place the order(the proof is on my phone) and they told me they were unwilling to change the sauce for the wok no matter how long it's been since ordering. If I wanted another wok sauce I'd have to order & pay for another. So I tried to kindly explain that 2 minutes haven't even passed since I placed the order but the woman on the phone was unwilling to let me switch it. I then(at this point 3 minutes had passed) said I'm a regular customer and am sorry but if they're seriously unwilling to switch it after 2 minutes I would like to cancel my order. She then passed the phone to someone who started abrasively screaming at me saying "you not good people" and that she was going to "save your number you never eat here again". I just sat there on my couch and listened to this woman yell at me. I then hung up and proceeded to write this review.

But wait, I'm not done. As I started writing this Thai basil called my phone back and as I picked up a woman bellowed into my eardrum "so you don't want your order?". I said I'm sorry but I don't think I'll ever be eating there again and neither will any of my friends or family.

Disgusting way to treat not only a regular,...

I had an absolutely awful experience at this restaurant. I went there with my friend as we were both craving some Tom Yum, mostly because it's got great flavour, it's a cold night, and is vegetarian (EVERY SINGLE other place I have been to on this planet serves it vegetarian, minus the shrimp paste in the broth which we can both tolerate just fine). I ordered two Tom yum noodle soups off the sandwich boards above the cash register, paid right after, and tipped 16%. When we got our food, to our surprise and disappointment, there was not only whole shrimp in it but also ground meat on top and throughout the soup. I went up the the register, apologized profusely and explained that we were unaware that the soup had so much meat in it. I explained that we were both strict vegetarian and I even offered for both of us to pay AGAIN for REPLACEMENT soups. I was met with glares, dumbfounded looks from all the staff, and they refused to do anything. Not only were we fine with paying again, but they continually gave me hell for not knowing that theirs has meat in it. My friend and I said that we could just leave and go somewhere else, and they didn't offer a refund or any form of accomodation. Having served for the past 5 years, I think it's safe to say that I have never had such a negative experience in a restaurant in my entire life. Go to Thai away home just down the...

I have been to this location twice and another location a few times with no issues. Today, the price and beverage left a bad taste in my mouth. It is unclear that when you order a curry or any other entree, that you'd have to pay $2.50 extra for rice. When the total seemed high after I paid (and that it was in fact higher than the combo they had, which included rice and salad/spring roll,, I asked why. The waitress then explained that the entree I ordered was a full size, and that the combo (which is also available for dinner) would be be smaller. I would have zero issues with this if only this difference was made clear. I studied the menu overhead again and no where was it listed that rice would cost another $2.50.

Thai iced tea: it is hard for a Thai restaurant to mess this one up but when mine came very sweet and milky with no tea tastenwhatsoever, I asked the waitress if she could simply add more tea (to dilute the sweetness), she said that was not possible because they had a recipe and had to boil hot water, etc to make the tea. I had to simply throw out nearly the whole drink and left. All in all, the $21+ dinner left a bad taste...
