Suggest avoiding Marketplace Canski tune shop. I needed a tune up to get my 1 season old skis, maybe 50 days of skiing, a base grind and a sharpen. At drop off the person behind the counter had all sorts of confidence, bordering on bravado. It was a bit odd that he wanted to let me know he knew best what I needed when I asked for specific bevel and edge angles (factory specs). I let it go as he was the expert and I like a confident ski tech. At the pick up the note on my skis said “can’t make them flat.” They weren’t sharp either. When I insisted this wasn’t good enough, they agreed they could get them correct but needed more time. At the agreed 2nd pick up time the next day they weren’t done and the ski tech explained that they aren’t used to people requiring a base grind to get a flat base. They also explained that the reason the skis weren’t sharp after the first attempt was because they couldn’t sharpen a ski that wasn’t flat. All I asked for was a flat, sharp ski. Not too out of the ordinary. They explained that they were more accustomed to customers that didn’t really need much of a tune up. I was an exception being a skier that skis a lot and needs skis comprehensibly tuned up. My impression is that the shop does not have experienced and skilled ski techs and they are used to handing back skis with mediocre work done. They were not used to dealing with a customer that understood what a proper tune up looks like. Note, I’ve had good work done here in past years. I would have happily paid whatever they wanted to do it all correctly. This experience was disappointing. Seems that this shop currently caters to people that don’t expect or know what a good quality tune up looks like. Will take my business elsewhere. For reference, my family typically needs 2-3 base grinds a year for our...
Read moreMaster boot fitter. Highly recommended get your ski boots here. My wife has had two other pair of boots she bought in the past years, custom expensive insoles and all fit badly. Talk to Carl. He knows his craft extremely well. I did not know that they can actually shape the shell of the boot to make a perfect fit. He explained the process and my wife is extremely happy with the boots she got. He knew which brand to recommend and he was extremely patient with us. You will pay a little more for the custom work, and if you need insoles custom made, that will cost you extra, but this is something that's totally worth the price. Don't save money on the boots, a well fitted one will make you ski much better without pain and in total control. They can also make extra adjustments after you ski for a couple of days if some part of the boot bothers you. Hard to find someone that knows boot fitting so well. Take advantage of the great service of you got a chance. There was another very happy customer who also highly recommended Carl. My wife has skied for 18 years and this is the first time a boot actually fit like a glove. He is an expert in his field, hands down. He will educate you on the process, follow his advice and you won't go wrong. He won't sell you the wrong gear, he stands by his work. It's important that you ask for Carl specifically, I am not sure how good the other guys are, but he has done this work for a long time, not just a...
Read moreMy son split a ski that we had purchased from a different store in Whistler. We went to that store to warranty it and were told that it would take 2-3 weeks to get an answer back and we would pretty much have to wait.
I came into CanSki and spoke with the manager Jeff to try and figure out how to get my son back on the mountain skiing. He offered to contact the Rossignol rep to see what they could do. He was able to get a full warranty replacement and offered the new skis out of his current stock. My son was super stoked to be back on the mountain the next day, sporting a new replacement set of skis. Highest recommendations to Jeff...
