I had to delete my earlier review of Tandoori Grill because a lot has changed since our first visit 3 years ago. That review no longer held true, and I did not want it to set the wrong expectations for others.
This time around, the experience was quite mixed. The service was okay overall. We specifically asked for Mr. Sukhwinder Singh who is still with the restaurant. He continues to be the one bright spot and possibly the biggest reason we return. His warmth and the way he greets and takes care of guests really stands out and he makes everyone feel welcome.
As for the food, the Paneer Masala thankfully lived up to the memory of our first visit and was still as delicious as before. The breads we ordered, the naans, rotis, and the rest, were also excellent. They were fresh, soft, and very well made. Unfortunately, the Malai Kofta was very underwhelming and just okay at best. To their credit, the restaurant did not charge us for it. The biggest disappointment was the Veg Biryani. What we were served looked and tasted much closer to a simple veg pulao. While the flavors were acceptable, anyone familiar with biryani would immediately notice the difference both in appearance and in taste.
To be fair, it was a long weekend when we visited and the place was extremely busy. We could see several tables waiting endlessly for their food, with some guests even leaving in frustration. Service was understandably slow and food took a while to arrive. In fact, Mr. Sukhwinder Singh himself came over to caution us about the delays and advised us to place everything we might want right away. Otherwise, by the time rotis came, the vegetables would already have gone cold. He later checked in again when the staff were less stretched, which was thoughtful of him and really showed his care despite the chaos.
The restaurant has definitely gotten busier than when we first discovered it, which could be part of the reason for the drop in consistency. Still, it was a little disheartening to see the overall standard not hold up to our earlier experiences.
In short, Tandoori Grill today offers a very mixed experience. Mr. Sukhwinder Singh remains the heart of the place with his hospitality, and some dishes like the Paneer Masala and breads are still excellent. But overall, it is no longer the same top notch standard that I had once...
Read moreI’ve been a loyal customer of this restaurant for years—it used to be my go-to spot for Indian food. Unfortunately, my recent visits have been disappointing, as the quality has steadily declined.
On my most recent visit, the service was lackluster. We had to ask two different servers a total of four times for chili before it finally arrived. The food itself was bland and tasted as if it had come straight from the freezer. I always order the mixed grill, but this time there was no sausage, and the normally delicious baked white fish was battered and deep-fried instead. The flavors overall were unimpressive, and all the meat was overcooked. To make matters worse, the fish and shrimp were soggy.
The pacing of the meal was also poor. Our group of five received our dishes at staggered intervals, often five minutes apart. By the time everyone had their food, some of us had already finished eating. To add to the frustration, the naan—an essential part of the meal—was brought out only after everyone had already eaten.
The final straw came when the staff asked if we were finished and then told us we needed to pay and leave because they were backed up with bookings. This felt extremely rude, especially given how slow and disorganized the service had been throughout the meal.
I understand that it’s a busy time of year, but that doesn’t excuse the poor food quality and subpar service. This experience has left me questioning whether I’ll return to a restaurant that I once...

As I don't eat out here in Whistler, I found Tandoori on Google and based on their frequent updates, comments from the staff & great reviews I decided to come in!
I was served by a lovely woman named Pawandeep & her colleague who both provided excellent service and were observant. As I'm a very cheerful and open person I smiled and greeted the staff when entered, they were just as cheerful back! I had the supervisor come over to make sure things were delicious mid way through and I started chatting and he stayed around for a bit to chat with me! (I was the only guest at this point)
For dinner I went with butter chicken & rice. It was very delicious & despite someone saying ptherwise in another review, the portion size was big as you can see, & I even had to take a box home! Some of the chunks of chicken were almost the size of golf balls. It wasn't overpowering, which is something I do actually prefer - although I feel like most other people don't prefer an overpowering taste like myself. Thank you for the great experience!
The only improvement that I could see is that the brush to wipe your winter boots on isn't secured to anything so it just slipped around the tiles when I tried to use it. Maybe it was the first day they got it out for the winter that day and hadn't tested it though. Secure it to heavy wooden block and it...
