Upon my first visit to Leela spa, I initially aimed to give it a glowing 5-star review. However, as the minutes of my massage passed, that intention steadily diminished. I dismissed the initial hiccups, like the excessive confirmation calls and the mishandled intake form, as teething problems for a new establishment.

The real disappointment came during the massage itself. Despite discussing specific areas during the pre-massage assessment, the therapist focused extensively on my thighs, employing a repetitive and uncomfortable technique. The lack of detailed work on the crucial areas, like shoulders, arms, and a foot, left me unsatisfied. It became apparent that the therapist's approach involved prolonged strokes in one spot, causing discomfort and abrasion. I get it using finger pressure for therapist is more work, but palm strokes don’t help muscles and irritate skin when done in such excessive manner.

To add to the disappointment, the conclusion of the massage involved a "warm" towel that resulted in a burn, leaving my back red for days. The unexpected sting from a supposedly relaxing element was frustrating. I had the most relaxing and enjoyable spa experience at Leela Eco Spa yesterday. My esthetician, Nancy, performed the Acne Advanced Clarifying Facial and it was absolutely superb! She began by carefully analyzing my skin and asking about my current routine, then explained each step of the treatment along with the products she would be using.

Nancy was incredibly kind, friendly, and welcoming. I really appreciated how knowledgeable she was—she answered all my questions thoroughly and offered professional advice tailored to my skin’s needs. The ambience in the room was perfect—peaceful, calming, and exactly what you’d hope for in a spa. I was so relaxed that I even drifted off to sleep a couple of times!

Deceitful and/or Incompetent

This review is about the administration of this establishment. Before booking an appointment, I visited in person to confirm whether they offered direct billing with Sun Life, and I was told they did. To be transparent, I normally wouldn’t have gone elsewhere as I am very satisfied with my regular massage therapist, but my spouse encouraged me to try this place.

I completed all required documentation ahead of time, including providing my Sun Life details. However, when it came time to pay, the administrator told me they could not find my information and gave excuses that didn’t make sense. I’ve never experienced this issue with any other provider.

This left me questioning whether it was incompetence or something more troubling.
