Edit 2 (Feb2025): Unfortunately, I have gone here twice in the past month and they are still using yesterday's lettuce. That's it for me and this place, which is sad because other than the lettuce (again their cheapest ingredient) everything is usually great. The old lettuce just ruins every sandwich, they taste like have been sitting in your fridge for a day or two, ehich makes sense because the lettuce has been sitting in their fridge for a day or two. Also, less importantly, the pickle has become a joke, a sloppy crunchless mess with leathery skin that seems like it has been out of the brine for at least a few hours Fresh is better, back to Subway. Food rating reduced from 4* to 1* <end edit2> Edit 1 (June 2024): guys don't do it, just don't do it. Had a sub here tonight (my fifth) and it had that "two day old lettuce" taste. You know what I'm talking about. The restaurant was completely empty tonight and this is your cheapest ingredient. Don't do it, don't let yourself go the tacotime way. Lettuce is 4 hours old maximum. I'll be back, but if the lettuce ruins the experience like it did tonight, ON A 16$ SUB, that will be it. <end edit 1> Super friendly staff, unique fire-house themed atmosphere, decent pricing and subs that taste like they are built with quality ingredients. Can't wait to try them all. So far the meatball sub is the winner, but the hook-and-ladder and turkey-club were both fantastic as well. Chili was similar to other fast-food franchises, and although there are soups on the online menu, there are none listed in-store and neither time I visited did they have any. I like the 8" size, although comparable in price to a (allegedly) "foot-long" sub at Subway, I found these subs to be equally filling. Two things to note, I don't believe they make their own bread, and there is not the level of customization possible when measured against subway. You can tell them "no tomato" or whatever, but the subs are made behind the scenes so you cannot micro-manage your perfect sub and ask for a little more or less of this or that. So far this has not been an issue and I'm sure will continue on that route as long as the standards are kept at a high level. The pickle spear you get is large and fantastic, similar to a Claussen. I will definitely be back to try the brisket and beef & cheddar!

My family always went to firehouse subs in the states but after trying this location, Winnipeg has already completely ruined it for me! Ordered a smoked turkey & the engineer, next to no condiments on the subs, when requested to add cucumbers/oil & vinegar, it was not added. The sandwich meat is processed & not cut fresh as it is in the states. The engineer sub usually comes loaded with mushrooms & COOKED onions. There were maybe 5 semi cooked mushrooms & raw onions on the sub. Literally these subs tasted identical because all you could taste was the glob of turkey! I have never been so thirsty in my life after eating here, way too much salt! To top it all off, it was lunchtime & the place was completely empty so I do not understand why our orders were not made properly. I was absolutely disappointed, I didn’t even have the appetite to finish my sub, I could have made my own sandwich at home & saved the expense & the FOOD POISONING. Something was definitely off about this experience, do not recommend at all! Pita pit is waaaaaay better and it’s in walking distance! And FYI — I am definitely not leaving a review to get free subs/coupons, I will never return after experiencing food poisoning!

Got the Firehouse Hero. I waited 13 minutes for 1 sub. After two bites it was clear that I essentially ordered a microwaved meat sandwich. Nothing appeared grilled or toasted. Everything was wet, the bread, the meat...the lettuce, tomato and onion were all warm. Who doesn't love warm, wilted lettuce? The sub also had whole, uncut onion rings on it along with a nasty, hard chunk of the lettuce core for good measure. The front counter service was pleasant, but the staff making the subs looked dazed and confused. Zombie faced. Zero expression. A quick look over the kitchen counter revealed half made subs laying everywhere. And yup, I got the greasy hand and finger print covered take out box as well! Yay! Gross! There's no way the Americans would put with this, but it seems to be perfectly acceptable for us pathetically viewed and treated, peasant minded Canadians.

This location is definitely hit and miss. They have generally been super slow, but more recently quicker. Yesterday (September 14) though was really poor service. I came in to order at the cashier a kids meal for my daughter and then I was using the redeem in restaurant option for a free sub for myself. It took almost 5 minutes to sort out the order with the cashier as she kept telling me that I had to order online, even though I was clearly reading it out what it said on my phone and trying to show her. Someone did come and help finally. Then when I was waiting for my order, I only received the kids meal, and the guy behind the counter was trying to give me another kids meal, and they missed the ticket somehow for my meal. So I was stuck waiting more for them to prepare my sandwich. I was also picking up my husbands mobile order. It was all to go and I asked for a bag and they just tossed the bag on the counter and didn’t bag it themselves. I also found out later that they also missed giving my husbands side order of garlic bread. We were already at home and no where close to go back and ask for it. It wasn’t even that busy at all, the service was just poor. Our subs were prepared okay, but not as much meat as before, not sure if it was just this particular location, we haven’t been to this one in awhile and more recently we went to the Kildonan...

I ordered and it said 3:30 it would be ready. At 3:30 it wasn’t ready but assuming it would be any minute I placed another order as I was going to take it home once we were done eating so figured less chance of it getting soggy this way. I asked about my first order and they told me it was being worked on. I made sure they knew I was at a table waiting so they wouldn't pack it up to go. I waited another 20 minutes and nothing. Finally they call my name but it is for the second order I placed. I asked where my first order was and it was just sitting there (not in the pick up area, behind the counter) the bread had started getting a little soggy in parts so it had to of been there a while. Still delicious but the whole experience today was blah. The online system should not give a pick up time because in my experience it’s not accurate. They also need a better system when it’s busy because people just stand in everyone’s way and take up seats that eat in customers are waiting for. They also forgot one of my pickle spears which was very disappointing. Don't get me wrong the food is delicious, and I will go back but don’t expect perfection here, they have some kinks to work out and you could end up waiting 30 mins+ for...
