I don’t usually write reviews, but my recent experience at St. Louis Bar and Grill absolutely demanded recognition – specifically for the incredible waitress who took care of our table with such exceptional poise, warmth, and attentiveness that I genuinely felt like I was at a five-star establishment (with better wings).
From the moment we were seated, our waitress exuded a mix of professionalism and genuine friendliness that immediately made us feel welcome. She greeted us with a bright, sincere smile, and not just the “restaurant smile” – the kind that says, “Hey, I’m actually glad you’re here.” She handed us our menus and casually mentioned the specials of the day, somehow managing to make a plate of chicken fingers sound gourmet. Her timing was impeccable – not hovering, not distant – just perfectly attuned to when we needed her. Almost like she had a sixth sense.
Now let’s talk about drink refills. Some servers treat it as an afterthought, but not this legend. I swear, my Coke never dropped below half without her appearing like a caffeinated guardian angel to top it up. No need to wave or ask – she just knew. I asked about local beers and she actually took the time to describe the taste profiles and even recommended one based on my food choice. It paired perfectly with the wings. Clearly not her first rodeo.
When our food arrived, she didn’t just toss the plates down and disappear. She took a few extra seconds to make sure we had napkins (thank you), extra wet wipes (so underrated), and even offered us a bowl for our wing bones. It’s the little things, right? She checked in again a few minutes after we started eating – again, perfectly timed – to make sure everything was to our liking without interrupting the flow of conversation.
And yes, the food was great – but honestly, her service made the entire meal feel elevated. She made us laugh with casual, comfortable banter and even remembered that it was our friend’s birthday from an earlier comment and came back with a dessert and candle without being asked. That kind of attentiveness? You can’t train it. That’s instinct. That’s care.
When it came time to settle the bill, she split everything flawlessly, remembered who ordered what, and even applied a discount we had completely forgotten about from a promotion. She deserved more than the 25% tip we left her, but it was the best we could do on short notice.
In short, if you ever find yourself lucky enough to be served by this woman – don’t just enjoy the food, appreciate the art of her service. She made our night. St. Louis Bar and Grill, give this woman a raise, a promotion, a plaque on the wall – something. Because she’s not just a waitress. She’s the reason...
Read moreI'm not sure what I was expecting but it wasn't this, kind of like an old-style diner meets sports bar? I dunno, I liked it. Was nice for a datenight as well, somewhat lively/loud and lots going on with the full bar setting and many screens with sports playing.
I did not get a picture of it, because frankly it disappeared so fast but the calamari was PHENOMENAL! If you like calamari it is a must to get here. Not rubbery, very flavourful and I swear it came out in like 3 minutes!
My girl had fish and chips and it looked and tasted good. Small two pieces of fish, but they were cooked and seasoned well and the fish was flaky. The fries are thick steakhouse style which I like and are definitely frozen.
I had a caesar which was good, bean and celery, and i had the rib/wing combo. I really like how they allow you to upgrade to your plate and at reasonable prices. I upgraded my fries to poutine for 2$ (not some ridiculous 7$ like at some places) and added an extra 4 wings for I believe 4$ - though that may have been a happy hour price. The wings were very not good, definitely frozen and undercooked to me (that weird red-bone taste you get. When i buy wings and make them fresh the bone is almost white). If you like 'hot' get more than medium as the waitress said medium was like franks but it is definitely not and is very sweet. Between the medium and salt/pepper i preferred the salt and pepper. I only had one of each in store as I didn't like them, but brought them home and airfried them with hot sauce and they were fantastic at that point.
The poutine was ok, canned gravy, but good cheese, 2$ is an appropriate upgrade charge. The coleslaw is too creamy for my liking but that's a personal preference. The ribs were passable.
In total the calamari and vibe was good enough to come back for and I think I just missed what I will like from the menu. They have a lot of different things to try and I know I will find something!
Great happy hour deals before...
Read moreAs we have family in St.Louis we thought it would be nice to try out this new restaurant and get a taste of St.Louis. After reading reviews we thought it would be a good outing, but didn’t turn out to be that good. The staff were super friendly when we got in, but while we were ordering the waiter informed us they were out of 4 options on the menu and out of 7 wing flavors. We ordered the kids cheeseburger which came out with our appetizer which was nice as our little one was pretty hungry. While he was starting to eat you could see the grease dripping off his burger onto his plate. We took the bun off and soaked 3 napkins with grease from the hamburger. Ordered the ribs which was supposed to come with coleslaw but never received it. No one mentioned they were out until we asked the waiter and he said oh yes they were out. Typically other places you would be informed they were out and get something in lieu of the something being out, but wasn’t informed until the end when we asked and wasn’t given an alternative option. Also, when we ordered the ribs we weren’t asked what kind of sauce we wanted. The ribs were moist and fall off the bone, but wish we could’ve got another option for a side and some sauce on for our ribs. Our waiter only came by once to check on us during our meal. Halfway through our meal drinks were empty. We left our empty cups at the end of the table as a hint but didn’t end up getting any refills. Only came by once our meal was finished, asking how things were to which we informed him of the items above. Understandably they are new and still learning, but wasn’t overly happy with the outcome of our lunch. Wishing them luck and hope they can find...
