Nucci's Gelati — Local services in Winnipeg

I finally got the chance to go to Nucci’s Gelati on April 29th and wow, what an experience! I’ve been wanting to go for so long after hearing amazing things, and it was totally worth the wait. It was my birthday, and all I wanted was some really good food and pistachio gelato, and let me tell you, Nucci’s delivered!

A friend told me Nucci’s had the best Italian comfort food, and they were 100% right. From the moment I walked in, I was warmly greeted and told the owner would come out to walk us through the menu. And then Maria, the owner, came out. She is the absolute sweetest! You can instantly tell how much love and passion she pours into her business. She told us where the menu was, but since it was our first time, she offered to customize our meal. How amazing is that? Seriously top notch service!

I had the chicken parm with pasta, salad, and bread. Everything was made fresh that day, and you could taste the difference. Normally I don’t even finish my plate—but not this time. I ate every bite. The portions were huge, the food was delicious, and the service was just as amazing. Honestly, I couldn't figure out why I was yawning all afternoon,then I realized Italian comfort food really is comforting! I was so full I didn’t eat again until the next day.

If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. I’ve been telling everyone they need to go try Nucci’s for lunch. If you haven’t been, you are seriously missing out. I’ll definitely be making a TikTok about my visit because Maria is an absolute gem and this place deserves way more recognition than it gets.

Please, please, please don’t hesitate to stop by for lunch, and if you want the BEST pistachio gelato in the city,...

I ended up going back here recently. Skip the pistachio here if you're looking for that real nutty flavor. This tastes like the extract, more like the cheaper spumoni flavoring. There is no sampling so I did not know what I was getting into. I specifically told the person at the counter I did not want the pistachio if it tasted like the extract. The person serving today just did not seem to really care which is a bummer because the service in the past here was very good. When I told her she shrugged her shoulders and said she did not make it. The hazelnut (other flavor I got) was good.

My favorite was the croccangelo. Every time I got a spoon of that I was surprised by how delicious that blend of flavors was. It was a little icier than the other flavors but because of how tasty I did not mind.

I haven't been to Nucci's in years. My friends and I went last night and I ordered the medium dish (3 flavors). I chose pistachio, passion fruit, and caramo (toffee and butterscotch). The texture of pistachio was very creamy and tasted like pistachio, just how gelati should be.

The passion fruit didn't have much flavor, tasted watered down and had more of a frozen slushy type consistency, very grainy.

The caramo tasted like sweetened water with a hint of butterscotch. Texture was like a frozen slushy also.

I was really disappointed in this, as I used to favor Nucci's over other gelati places as they did have the best gelati in the city before. I've been to other gelati places in the city and other places I've visited and never had gelati with a slushy texture like that before.

I know times have definitely changed, as they used to have the gelati displayed in the traditional metal dishes. Today they were in ice...
