The Victorian Hotel — Hotel in Hospital

I paid for a Junior Suite and there was no separate living area at all. The bathroom had the pink mold in the grout in the shower, some staff members were very rude and stole money from me, after saying they didn't have change so l could pay for a bottle of water. I billed the water to the room but after the owner left, the front desk pressured me to pay, but said he couldn't use the credit card machine. I left 20 mil Colones($40) to be put toward food or drink.|They deposited it, but said I still owed for the water and dinner. The dinner was "Garlic Fish" which tasted of burned garlic, old rice, and the salad bowl was 1/3 filled with vinegar at the bottom of the bowl. Some staff were polite but the entire experience left a bad taste in my mouth, literally. I left with that $40 never being returned and they all seemed to think it was funny. I really enjoyed my stay there. Julio, the owner, and his staff did an outstanding job welcoming me and helping me secure a rental car and booking a tour of the waterfalls. The staff is amazing. A delicious breakfast was included as well each day.

The staff is genuinely kind and welcoming, which we truly appreciated. However, aside from their warm hospitality, the overall experience at the hotel fell short of expectations. The property feels quite dated, and the rooms don't quite match the standards you might find elsewhere in Costa Rica. In terms of value for money, it was difficult to justify the cost.
