The Corner is the perfect culmination of good service, classic homely vibes, and great food.
Located in a beautiful, historic Costa Rican house, the ambience is chill and the decor rustic. The service is good, waiters attentive and polite, and the owner Emir is very friendly and takes the time to chat with customers and make sure they feel right at home.
The food is spectacular, consisting of a unique blend of mostly Mediterranean and Turkish cuisines.
Renowned as a local pizzeria of 15 years, the pizza is top-notch. Fresh ingredients, lots of cheese and tomato sauce, and flavorful. The Prosciutto & Arugula Pizza is my personal go-to.
On this visit, we ordered the Karides Guvec, a Turkish dish, shrimp baked in tomato sauce with lots of cheese - scrumptious!
Next, we ordered the Swordfish Skewers - an Aegean style marine-shish-kebab dish - delicious.
We also ordered the beef Kebab with tomato sauce and yogurt - a clear revival of the classic Turkish Iskender Kebap - absolutely mind-blowing.
Dolma - grape vine leaves wrapped & rolled around a cozy mixture of savory ground beef & rice, served with yogurt. A Turkish cuisine classic.
Manti - ravioli-style dumplings, originating from Turkey, stuffed with ground beef, topped with yogurt and savory tomato sauce. A total culinary gem.
The Lamb dish is truly out of this world! Tremendously tasty, tender and absolutely recommended.
‘La Bola’…baked pizza dough in the form of a ball, stuffed with soft, delicious beef and molten cheese. A delight for every palate.
The Corner Burger is now a classic for us…homemade bread, mouthwatering beef patty grilled to perfection.
For dessert, we ordered the Kabak Tatlisi, a beloved Turkish dessert made of glazed pumpkin with syrup.
Not to mention, it’s a good spot for Margaritas!
Whether you feel like having a classic cocktail or cold beer in a picturesque spot, an authentic pizza to fill your belly, or to give your tastebuds a party with all the unmatched Turkish flavors - The Corner is the place to be.
Five stars!...
Read moreHate giving places poor reviews but this one is really deserved. After reading so many positive reviews we looked forward to dinner here. There were only a couple of other tables taken when we got there so they were not busy. The waiter kind of hurriedly took our order. The menu for pasta is a bit confusing as you need to pick the type of pasta you want then choose a sauce/protein to go with it. Long story short it took about 45 minutes to bring out our meal. The owner came out and was apologetic but the dishes themselves were cold, and not very good. The waiter seemed preoccupied with something else, I don’t know if our food was just sitting around while we waited or what the situation was. Before our food came out I was nearly ready to just walk out it was taking so long and the waiter never once came to see if we needed more drinks or to say what was going on. It was just a very very bad dining experience, and not one...
Read moreAttending staff. Ordered the smaller pizza, hard to understand the size of it. Extra vegetables on the vegetariana without cheese. They did not have any sangria listed in the menu. They have wifi, but a complicated password a spanish speaking person would not understand. Even without that many people in the restaurant, service was a bit slow. It took ten minutes to get the single beer I ordered. The reason is most probably because they staff also take care of the hostel next door, which I see them run back and forth to. Otherwise a cozy atmosphere. Pizza took over 40 minutes to get, even with only three other tables. Also ants...
