So, finally I will also write a comment for the place. My friend (Eva Graf, see comment below) already did below and first of all I would like to point out how ridiculous it is of a place to be 'responding' in this way, blaming my child and me as customers. I will clearly describe the whole situation from my personal perspective:
I arrived in the cafe in the morning hours with my 16 months old baby, waiting for our friends to get home from work. We just had travelled overnight, for more than 15 hours to arrive in Quito. The person attending us first was a nice lady. Later on, who I thought to be her supervisor or boss was the person that I felt not well treated by. She, as it seemed, also advised the other worker so she also changed her behaviour in a negative way, but still tried to stay friendly and it seemed from my perspective that she felt uncomfortable telling me some things. The food in the café was ok t treeasty, but the prices are highly exaggerated for what you get. This is my opinion. After arriving at the café, I did take off my shoes in the corner where there was a carpet and a sofa. After ordering and eating I laid down for a short moment, to breastfeed my child and relax after a long, exhausting journey. The supervisor lady came over and told me with a disgusted look on the face that this was a sofa to sit and not to lay down. Later she told me to put on my shoes. What this person writes about my child is definitely highly exaggerated. There were 4-5 small packages of sugar in small paperbags on the table when we ate. My child dropped them on the floor in the same corner where we had breakfast. There was no 'spilling all over the place'. Furthermore we had some toys that he played with for a moment. I was told to put them away as this was 'not a place for toys/children'. (I actually didn't understand exactly what she said in that moment but it was something in this sense.) I responded they should put a sign if children are not welcomed there. Just before we left, my baby took out his toys again and 2 of them were next to the chair where we sat. I was trying to organize my bag to leave meanwhile. The worker came again and told me to put away the toys. This was the last situation before leaving the place. Beforehand the 'supervisor' lady treated me several times as if I was some kind of person behaving terribly and I felt treated terribly. I told them this more than once. I was there for a couple of hours waiting for my friends and ordering a couple of things. While I was there, only two other customers were there for longer. 3 or 4 more passed by for a short coffee or stayed only few minutes. None of these customers seemed to be bothered by either my 'behaviour' nor by my child. When they told me to put away the toys just before leaving we were the only customers in the whole place.
You can make of this comment whatever you want and decide for yourself. I would definitely not recommend people to go there with (small) children as it seems for me as if they don't want them there. I'm a coffee lover and I wanted to by a package of coffee there if the coffee is tasty. I decided not to, because of my experience in the place.
I'm curious about the reaction to this comment- if there will be any.
I as a customer am the only person who can say if I felt well attended and received good food or not. So I ask you to refrain from 'correcting' me regarding...
Read moreNot recomendable with kids. I live in the neighbourhood and sent my friend there to wait for me until I come home after work. She had just arrived in Quito from an exhausting overnight trip with her child. Unfortunately, she was treated very unfriendly and harassed because of her child playing with his toys. I felt really bad for her and would not recommend...
