Hotel Bellavista Quito — Hotel in Iñaquito

We stayed one night between birding trips to the west and east sides of Quito.||I had some problems booking, with the hotel and booking company blaming each other for my credit card being rejected. (I had no problems with using it for multiple bookings elsewhere). However I rebooked with a different provider, pre-paid and had no further issue. ||Our room, with twin beds, was quite small and clean; we needed to wait as long as 15 minutes for hot water to come through in the shower. Its location was not ideal, being next to washing machines /driers which were on until mid-evening and with the windows right next to low level steps where people can walk by. Hardly the mountain / city view promised but it didn't actually cause a problem. Contrary to the details provided at booking, there was no drinking water nor safe provided in the room.No towels were available until the had finished putting them through the drier.||The staff were very helpful and friendly and Pablo seemed to be constantly running around doing everything!||There are nice city views from the restaurant and a short walk (down the steep) hill brings you to some restaurants and shops. ||We were provided with a packed breakfast, because we were leaving early. But unfortunately despite being assured one would be vegetarian, there was meat in the sandwiches. ||Overall, whilst "average" is a bit harsh, and I think better rooms are available, given the issues mentioned, I couldn't score this...

I really enjoyed my stay at the Bella Vista in Quito. It is located north of the Centro Historico and in the hills, quiet and tranquil. The surrounding neighborhood is upscale and safe, and there are very good restaurants (De la Llama, Somos Ecuador) nearby, as well as luxury shopping centers, Parque Carolina, and another beautiful nature reserve up the hill (about fifteen minutes' walk). My room, which was one the smallest (for a single person), was comfortably-sized with a large bathroom and a lovely view. I paid a fraction of what I would have at an American hotel, and a breakfast with eggs, croissant, juice and coffee was included. There was no choice for the breakfast, but I found it satisfying (and the coffee was especially good). The hotel is located up a challenging hill from the nearest subway stop and the commercial area, so I ended up taking a taxi or Uber when returning, but it was less than $2 each time. This is an Ecuadorian hotel, so little (if any) English is spoken, but the staff is accommodating, and it is very safe; one rings the bell at the gate to enter or exit, and there is someone there 24/7. Hicimos una reserva por dos noches en este hotel dados los comentarios encontrados en tri advisor y en booking. Llegar a él no fue fácil aún con la utilización del GPS. El hotel no tiene un gran letrero que lo distinga. Es la primera vez que siento depresión al llegar a un hotel porque a pesar de ser una buena casa le falta mucho mantenimiento y su entrada es muy poco agradable y sucia. Prácticamente parqueadero no tiene. Dispone de 2 unidades de parqueo protegidos por una reja, prácticamente al aire libre. Se trata de una casona de tres pisos organizada como hotel. Al Ingresar a el lo primero || que veo es el mal estado del jardín, la suciedad de la hojarasca de los árboles del jardín y una entrada mugrosa y corroída por la lama verde. Al entrar se ve inicialmente la cocina que es poco agradable y enfrente unos baños y un fondo sin pintar. Prácticamente recepción no tiene. Se trata de una oficina donde funciona el gerente, qué es muy amable y cordial, y de lo que primero me percato es de que su silla está muy deteriorada. El trato fue muy amable y cordial por parte del personal en general. Inicialmente nos llevaron a una pésima habitación con vista a un patio interior. Suponíamos que íbamos a disponer de una habitación con vista a la ciudad e hicimos el reclamo por lo que inmediatamente fuimos reubicados en una habitación en un tercer piso con vista a la ciudad, mucho mejor que la anterior, pero que tampoco resultaba ser del todo agradable. La habitación tiene una buena distribución pero necesita pintura urgentemente así como todo el hotel en general. Las paredes son mugrosas, ante todo en las cabeceras de las camas. Los edredones son viejos y tenían pequeñas manchas, así como la habitación anterior que tenía un edredón con una mancha o mugre u óxido, no sé que era. El vidrio del baño parece muy mugroso o nunca le han hecho mantenimiento. No tiene aire acondicionado ni ventilador ni nevera ni minibar. Dispone de pocos amenitis sólo tres pequeños jabones y dos tarritos pequeños de shampoo. La entrada al baño está deteriorada. Las escaleras de madera de subida al segundo y tercer piso están muy gastadas las que sí tuvieron encanto ya lo perdieron. Los accesorios metálicos del baño están mohosos y casi apunto de caerse. El piso de la terraza está en pésimas condiciones. La vista de la ciudad desde el hotel está bien pero tampoco como para quedarse con la boca abierta. Se encuentra en una colina muy pendiente con un acceso por una calle empedrada muy molesta. Se encuentra muy distante caminando del centro comercial Quicentro frente al estadio y de la zona comercial y financiera de la ciudad. El hotel en general requiere de una urgente remodelación. La zona en la que se encuentra es una zona residencial. El desayuno tipo buffet está muy bien pero con muy pocas opciones de frutas y quesos. Las fotografías encontradas en internet no corresponden con la realidad del hotel. Puede que hayan personas que le den un 10 pero para nosotros que hemos estado en tantos hoteles durante nuestros viajes nos pareció muy deficiente, poco profesional y costoso para lo que ofrece.
