I had a few hours before a flight, and was pleasantly surprised when Gabi andJose agreed to a short-notice appointment. I’ve been lucky enough to have sampled massage worldwide, and I can assure you Jose ranks among the best. If you’re looking for a spa massage, maybe look elsewhere. Jose is clearly focused on making you feel and function better. He zeroed in with laser focus on my problem areas- and there are many. He intuitively senses precisely just what the balance of pain to gain should be. Like another reviewer mentioned, I walked (stumbled) out feeling a decade younger. Jose is the real deal!

Update Aug 1,2023. I wrote my original review 2 years ago and have visited Sahana Thai several times since during subsequent visits to Quito. Yesterday I went to visit Gabi and Jose again at their new studio right across from Parque La Carolina. An upgraded facility, easy to find, an easy walk if you’re staying or working nearby! The location has changed, but not the exceptional skills and courtesy of these wonderful people. I am lucky enough to travel extensively, and have been fortunate enough to experience all types of massages all over the world. I’m not interested in a “spa experience”, with cucumbers and champagne. I’m interested in a therapeutic massage by a professional dedicated to wellness. A tall order, since I’m a big old guy who refuses to quit having fun on my bicycle, hiking, horseback riding or snowboarding. Jose hadn’t seen me in a year, but it was like it had only been a week. He immediately focused on exactly the areas that require attention, and intuitively knows just how much pain is “good”, when to push, and when to relax. I have never had a massage from anyone as skilled at diagnosis and treatment….anywhere, for any price. And their prices are VERY reasonable. You will leave transformed. Do your body a favor, and...

My husband and I had the most positive experience one could hope for when we contacted and became short-term clients of Sahana Thai. We were visiting Ecuador for just two weeks and were in Quito for half of that time. My husband was really in need of bodywork after three days of altitude sickness. We both were able to get appointments the day we reached out and it turned out to be the best thing we did. We had amazing massages. Mine helped me de-stress and loosen up tight muscles and my husband's helped him with lower back pain and helped him better use his legs which have been impacted by nerve damage. Because of the high-quality massages and the kindness of these two people, we booked one more massage before leaving for Cuenca. Again - the bodywork was fantastic and the people were so kind. Before we left we scheduled a third appointment so we could receive this amazing bodywork upon our return to Quito leaving for the States. The third massage was the best because I could see the progress that had been made with the previous two and I had become a little more flexible and my body felt great. Each visit I had an opportunity to talk with Gabriela while waiting for my husband and found her to be a lovely and open person. I felt like I was saying goodbye to a new friend at the end of the last appointment. I hope whoever reads this realizes Sahana Thai is a place focused on healing people. My husband and I had a wonderful 2 hour Thai Massage experience at Sahana Thai. We had never had a Thai massage before, so we weren't sure what to expect. The massages were both held in the same room, the beds were comfortable and the space was welcoming. Our massage therapists were experts in their field; their hands were strong and we felt taken care of. They were very kind and giving.
