Unfriendly and unpleasant communication. I called to make a reservation for 13:40 pm. Communication was in French (I am a foreigner but I do speak decent french and I was with my partner’s french family). The guy confirmed 13:40 and reassured me that in case it rains there would be rainshields. We arrived at 13:35 and after paying we were told in a very unleasant manner that it was only possible to do the trip at 14:00 and that I misunderstood him on the phone. That was untrue, but we coorperated and waited. When going on board the guy told us in a very unpolite way where to sit, saying that we should be lucky to be able to sit together in the first place. During the boat trip it rained and there were no rainshields. To foreigners I recommand to communicate in English in order to avoid "misunderstandings". Making the effort to speak French does sadly...
Read moreWe found the trip underwhelming and the organisation chaotic. I booked via the website and they replied quite promptly but changing my start time. Naively, as they'd asked, I assumed it was changed to give us an English commentary. We turned up 10 minutes before our time, as advised in the confirmation email, to be told we were going to be on a later boat. Showing said email made no difference and we had to hang around for 25 minutes. The trip is short, quite pretty but, without commentary we learnt nothing about the sites or the history of Petit Venice. We found the White train trip far more worthwhile and it cost the same as this. Comically, 4 hours after our trip, I received an email asking where we were. As I said, organisation is not their...
Read moreUnfortunately, they allowed 12 people onto our boat, while other boats had only 8 people each. There was no information provided about this. When I asked an attendant if we could sit at the front, they bluntly said 'No'. When I inquired about the reason, they rudely replied, 'you can see why'. The reason was obviously the large group of friends who were seated in front and beside us. Instead of enjoying the canal views, we had to spend the boat trip looking at the backs of people's heads. While every other boat tried to go with 8 passengers, being crammed with 12 felt unacceptable. Moreover, we went on the tour around 10:30 in the morning, which is supposedly one of the quietest times in Colmar. I definitely do not recommend...
