College International De Cannes — Local services in Grasse

I studied here for four months and would go back in a heartbeat if I was returning to the area.

Pros: GORGEOUS location. It is a little bit out of town but Cannes has a reliable bus system and you could walk to the city center in about 25 minutes. There are many young people, it's sociable and easy to make friends from all over the world. Easy to go down to the beach after lunch and enjoy the sun. The teachers are experienced, professional, knowledgable, and friendly. My French improved greatly. There wasn't a crazy amount of homework. If you live on campus, it's safe & secure, and relatively clean from what my friends said (I stayed with a wonderful host family). Cannes is one of the most beautiful towns in the world, I highly recommend this town if you want to study in France.

Cons: Sometimes they have big groups of high schoolers for a few weeks so it can get a bit noisy and chaotic on campus. It's all international students, so it's not conducive to meeting locals if you spend most of your time here. You have to walk a little ways to get to most restaurants if you're staying on campus. Some of my friends got irritated with the curfew rules and strict surveillance on visitors, but that did help keep the place more secure.

True, the food wasn't fabulous, but they did accommodate my vegetarianism and food restrictions my friends had such as lactose or gluten intolerance, and they tried to serve a variety of different foods. Overall, don't let any bad reviews deter you. Maybe my American upbringing gave me low standards re food, but it really wasn't...

I am very disappointed at this school. I stayed here for three weeks in august to improve my French for university, sadly that was not the case, and I payed over 2500€ for this!! The classes were unorganized, unstructured and the administration didn’t care if you were put in the right class according to your Level of French. After having complained many times, they still didn’t do anything about it, I repeated the same tasks etc. every week. Not only was the school system horrible, the food at the cafeteria was not worth the money they charged for it. The ladies working at the Cafeteria seemed to always be in a bad mood and were extremely rude, disrespectful and unprofessional. If you don’t book the comfort room, air conditioning is not in the price, these temperatures were unendurable without. Most of the young staff working at the reception were very kind and helpful, the rest was incompetent and didn’t care. My room had not been cleaned a single time during my stay here, I had to specifically ask for towels after two weeks because they didn’t bother to put any in my room. After asking them multiple times to clean the room, I just gave up. I payed lots of money for this experience and I wish I would have chosen a different school. Would not recommend!!

The only positive thing here is the location and the people...

No le pongo un 0 porque no puedo. Por donde empezar. A través del instituto francés en España cogí esta experiencia de estudiar 15 días francés en esta institución. En el folleto que el campus manda a España ponía que era para gente mayor de 18 y para mi sorpresa llegué y había todo niños. También en el folleto ponía que el fin de semana había actividades y te aseguro que no las había. No solamente mandaron publicidad engañosa cosa que es ilegal si no que también, yo llegué la última semana de Julio y me quedaba esa semana y la primera de agosto. Llegue el domingo 27 de julio a Cannes y fui a hacer el checking a las 2 de la tarde. Me dijo el de la recepción que hasta las 3 no podía hacerlo cuando spoiler no había nadie en el campus, estaba vacío así que me quedé una hora sentada en un banco porque al de la recepción no le daba la gana trabajar. Después de hacer el checking me dijo que no había ascensor y mi cuarto estaba en la última planta así que me tocó subir 4 pisos de escalera de caracol con una maleta grande. El cuarto daba asco media 5 metros cuadrados literalmente porque los medí y eso parecía más un zulo que otra cosa. Estaba sucio y encima había nidos de avispa dentro del cuarto que tuve la suerte de que estaban vacíos, pero lo que sí que tenía era una araña enorme de compañera de cuarto, que la tuve que matar yo. El domingo pregunté que cómo al día siguiente iba a saber cuál era mi grupo de francés, si me iban a hacer examen de nivel o algo y me dijo el de la recepción que mañana ya se vería. Llegó el lunes y ni prueba de nivel ni nada, me metieron donde tenían hueco, lo cual me pareció fatal porque era un nivel inferior al mío. Sin contar que todos los alumnos que habían eran menores de edad. Yo contraté desde España clases por la mañana y por la tarde EN GRUPO. Para mi sorpresa le pregunté a la profesora que donde iba a tener yo mis clases por la tarde y me dice que ella no sabía, que preguntase en recepción. Me voy a recepción y había una chica distinta al chico del domingo la cual parecía una Barbie mal humorada porque más borde y de poca ayuda no podía ser. Me dijo que ellos no tenían clases por la tarde que no había ningún profesor. Me quedé sorprendida y ya estaba bastante enfadada así que le pedí el contacto del que mandaba en esto, de mala manera me dio un mail al cual a día 24 de octubre NADIE me ha contestado y le dije si podía también llamar por teléfono al responsable porque a mí me habían hecho pagar por toda esta estafa con un mes de antelación. Al final al día siguiente me dieron mis clases por la tarde y la recuperé el jueves, pero yo las había contratado en grupo y no individual. A todo esto, de los estudiantes que había, eran un grupo de japoneses y uno de mexicanos. Los japoneses se fueron el miércoles de la primera semana y los mexicanos el jueves de la primera semana, también. Sabiendo esto le pregunté a mi profesora que el viernes si íbamos a tener la clase en el mismo sitio y si venía más gente. Me dijo que ella no sabía nada, que el jueves era el último día de todos los profesores y que les daban vacaciones. Mi cara de shock no tenía precio porque yo había pagado por otra semana más y acabar esa, así que volví a la recepción donde estaba esa Barbie amargada y le pedí explicaciones de porque no iba a haber profesores si yo tenia clase y sabían desde hace más de un mes que las tenía contratada porque me las hicieron pagar. La chica llamó a la encargada y me dijeron que me habían conseguido un profesor para la semana siguiente y el viernes pero que no por la tarde. La verdad es que no me creía lo que escuchaba porque no solo había pagado por clases en grupo y me quedé sola en el campus desde el jueves, si no que también me quedé sin las clases de por la tarde que también había contratado.También hay que hablar de la encargada (Rebecca) y lo inútil que fue que va y me dice que me relajase que no era para tanto lo que me estaba pasando cuando literalmente me estaban estafando en mi cara, en resumen, no vayáis.
