Plage Belle Plage — Restaurant in Grasse

Ate here on a Saturday night. Arrived early and ordered promptly.

When starter came the calamari was very tough. I’m terms of the main, my Linguine with clams was not as described on the menu because it came with no tomato. When I mentioned it first to one waiter I was told that I was wrong and I should check the menu. So I checked the menu, showed the normal waiter (Christofi) and then was told that I should have asked for them when ordering!!! I explained that perhaps their chef should check what is described in their dishes. My son’s burger was terribly over cooked and when we mentioned this towards the end of it being finished we were told that we should have mentioned it earlier. I said that we tried but could not get any attention from any waiters. We were told we should shout! There as absolutely no check back after the food was served.

In summary the male waiting staff are appalling and arrogant. We ate here earlier in the week and were served by a lovely lady. Generally though, the waiting staff are completely inattentive. We sat with dirty starter plates in front of us for easily 15/20mins, and overall it took over 2hrs to have 2 courses and it wasn’t even that busy.

I have eaten here a few times over the years but this was the worst I have experienced here and certainly the worst meal we had all week whilst in Cannes.

At the end we complained again when the full bill was presented and suggested they should decide if they should recognise the poor experience we had. After 5mins they came back with £2.50 off a £250 bill. Needless to say I won’t be visiting again, certainly not for a long time anyway. There are many other much better...

Worst beach experience ever in Cannes, and i have spend a couple of weeks there for the last 20 years.

Never seen such a tight spacing for transat: you are less than 30 cm from your unknown neighbor, both having to take care not to touch elbows...

On top of it, booking is not straight: we booked in advance for the second row, were said ok over the phone, then were sent to the third rank when arriving, upon no other reason that it was not promise ! It’s bad but I would not have report it here if I haven’t seen the same thing happening to others the same day: basically the beach always agreed over the phone for 1st or 2nd rank, the most requested, and then when people arrive, often with children and bags, they are said otherwise without any other options. It also looks like regular people or the one seen as going to spend a lot of money at the restaurant are receiving last minute preferences.

We arrived after a late flight to Cannes, and dined at the rooftop restaurant at the Belle Plage. The hostess, Esther, was a very professional and helpful. She explained that the kitchen was closing, but that we could order cold dishes, so we ordered the sea bass carpaccio, roast beef carpaccio, the mezze plate, and some wine. It was all very simply done, fresh, and delicious Mediterranean. On the surface, the menu doesn't seem too exciting, but don't let the simplicity of it fool you; the food is excellent. The view is great, too. We ate breakfast and dinner there most of the days we were in Cannes, finding the food way better than anything else we tried in Cannes. The chef was friendly, seemed very passionate about food, and made adjustments around food allergies. They have a good wine menu, and the staff was very professional.
