Maca'rong — Local services in Paris

We had such a fun afternoon baking macaroons here! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth and hospitality. We reserved a class for our family of four and we truly felt like we were baking with long-lost friends. They were so kind in tailoring the class to our level, teaching my 7 and 8 year old about baking principles, ingredients, and techniques--and quizzing them along the way. Spoiler alert: the correct answer is 'Italian meringue' for which type they use in the macaroons! The class starts with making the batter for the shell and picking your color. Then they show you how to make the perfect meringue. Along the way they offer you samples with different fillings and a coffee/tea/lemonade. What a wonderful experience! This was perfect for our family including children aged 10-15. The host did a fantastic job of teaching (in English) and helping us learn to craft amazingly delicious macarons. We got to learn not just how to bake basic ones but how to make them small works of art with multiple colors. The hosts were experts in their craft but ensured that we felt we are capable of taking these skills home and being successful at home too. They were patient and generous and funny. We brought home so many macarons at the end of the activity and that was after a small tasting too. Vouthy specializes in macarons and has perfected his craft. A really great find in Paris! Anyone who loves macarons must go there - tasty macarons at a very good price! If you're vegan, no problem - Macarong have some that are suitable for vegans (and it's not that expensive). What's more, a lot (if not all) of their products are GLUTEN FREE.

The Rose-Lychee and the Raspberry with White tea macarons are my absolute favourite!
