I've frequented this establishment many times over the years, and unfortunately, I've noticed a steady decline in both the service and food quality with each visit. Initially, this lounge stood out as a premier destination for relaxation and comfort, particularly for those traveling first or business class. The allure of complimentary access for premium passengers added significant value to the overall travel experience. However, recent experiences have highlighted several disappointing trends that are impossible to overlook.
One of the most glaring issues is the lounge's decision to sell entry tickets at the door. While this may seem like a lucrative strategy, it has fundamentally altered the atmosphere and experience of the lounge. Originally designed to accommodate a select number of first and business class passengers, the space has now become overcrowded and uncomfortable. The influx of additional guests has stretched the lounge’s capacity beyond its limits, making it difficult to find seating or enjoy the amenities without feeling cramped.
For those who have paid upwards of €3,000 or up to €15000 for a first or business class ticket, the expectation is a seamless and luxurious experience. Unfortunately, this expectation is far from being met. The fact that individuals can now purchase access for less than €100 undermines the exclusivity and value that first and business class passengers rightfully anticipate. This has not only diminished the overall ambiance but also created a sense of unfairness and frustration among those who have paid a premium for a supposedly superior service.
In terms of service, the decline is palpable. On several occasions, I have observed staff struggling to manage the increased number of guests, leading to longer wait times and a noticeable drop in attentiveness. What was once a hallmark of efficiency and personalized service has now become a hurried and impersonal experience. The staff, though doing their best under challenging circumstances, seem overwhelmed, and this has inevitably impacted the quality of service provided.
The food quality has also taken a hit. The once diverse and high-quality menu offerings have been reduced to a more generic and less appetizing selection. Freshness and presentation, which used to be impeccable, now leave much to be desired. It’s disheartening to see what was once a highlight of the lounge experience deteriorate into something so mediocre.
Moreover, the overall maintenance of the lounge seems to have suffered. Cleanliness and upkeep, which are critical in maintaining a high standard, have noticeably declined. Restrooms that were once spotless now often fall short of basic hygiene standards, and general areas sometimes appear untidy.
In conclusion, what was once a distinguished and exclusive lounge has sadly become just another overcrowded and underwhelming space. The decision to sell entry tickets has compromised the very essence of what made the lounge special. For frequent travelers who expect a certain level of luxury and exclusivity, the current state of affairs is deeply disappointing. It is my sincere hope that the management recognizes these issues and takes swift action to restore the lounge to its former glory. Until then, the value proposition for first and business class passengers remains significantly diminished, making it hard to justify the premium price paid for what is now a...
Read moreWelcome to the Mecca of travel bloggers. There is a reason every one of them have a detail LH first crass terminal review on their site. This place is one of most comfortable ways you will ever start your air travel. In my case I was connecting and appreaciated the option to recover from jet lag in the comfort of this lounge. FCT is outside the terminal 1, so if you're connecting in FRA, you will need to clear immigration, leave the terminal, turn left, walk for ~5 minutes. Take elevator up to the lobby of FCT and you will be greeted by polished and attentive LH staff. FCT has the most pleasant security staff you will find in the whole airport, it will take a minute to clear security and you can drift away into the comforts of the lounge. My favorite amenities: -Showers. Even a bath if you want to indulge -Bedrooms. Though there are only 2, so sign up early to get a spot. No time limit once you're in. -Private limo (if you're lucky - Porche) service direct to your plane when it is time to board. -Private office cubicles to do some work.
Lounge is on smaller side (there are larger LH lounges in FRA), but there are no crowds here. You can get to FCT only by flying LH first class or if you hold HON status. This means FCT is out of reach for 99.9% of travelers, hence the low traffic.
Restaurant was great, with nice selection of meals, made by Michelin chefs. I mostly sampled vegetarian options and all were fresh and tasty. Staff was curtageous and attentive, well mannered and not intrusive. Bar has a lot to offer, I could choose from at least 10 options for gin/tonic. Did not try wines, but selection seemed decent.
Oh and those cute, adorable DUCKS! This has become kind of collectable trophy for frequent flyers visiting FCT. You can get one just by asking staff (and go test it out at that bathtub if you want).
Overall a lovely place to spend those extra hours, I felt refreshed and ready for onward journey. If I had to find one thing that is lacking - it is the view. You wont see a single plane while in FCT, since it's windows face a service road and not an apron. Otherwise this is a special quiet place in one of busiest airports. Staff will go to great lengths to make you...
Read moreThe Lufthansa First Class Terminal is located separate from the main terminals. This means that in practice, it is a departure terminal. You can access it from the main terminals by exiting the front, following signs to the taxi stand off to the left, then continuing past. I've been there twice, once in 2019 and once a few days ago, and it really hasn't changed.
The Good: there seems to be sufficient seating. It is very well-staffed, and the staff members are willing to go well out of their way to keep you comfortable. Selection of beverages, including liquors, is excellent, and there's both a buffet and a la carte option for food; I've only ever had a handful of items from the buffet line because the aircraft keep me well-fed, but they seem to have this in order. They have very comfortable private shower rooms, and clean and private bathrooms. Limo service to your departing flight is both convenient and luxurious.
The Not-So-Good: so let's get it straight, there's nothing bad here. But as a luxury service, it must get graded accordingly. First, there should be access from the main terminal, whether it's getting picked up at the plane or something more mundane like at least a dedicated covered walkway; which being a departure terminal is fine for Germans in the Frankfurt area, it's rather inconvenient to reach for those taking a connecting flight. Also, there need to be more than two sleeping rooms; while once again this reflects its status as a departure terminal, they should make up their mind as to whether to have 0, or something more realistic like 6-8. That's...
