Kuremal Kulfi was started in 1906 by an 11-year-old Kirorimal Mohanlal who came from Parda village near Jhajjar, Haryana. He was inspired by his uncle who sold kulfis in Old Delhi and began his own venture selling kulfis. After helping his elder brothers with harvesting rabi crops, Kirorimal would travel from his village in Jhajjar to Delhi during the summers to sell kulfis. Back then, he did not have the option of refrigeration, so he would instead fill baraf (ice slabs) and namak (salt) in a matka (an earthen pot) that would reduce temperatures to minus degrees. He would then set kulfi contents in a mitti ka koonja (clay earthenware), store these in a huge clay pot, and then carry it on his head to the old Delhi streets. He would serve kulfis on a leaf and sell it for four annas each. In a day, he managed to sell about 100 kulfis. Back then, his friends would jokingly call him Kuremal instead of Kirorimal. But today, this name has become a popular brand in Delhi. The seasonal work of making kulfis continued for three decades until Kirorimal was able to open his first outlet in Chawri Bazar in 1940 along with his son Mohan Lal. Mohan Lal is credited with first introducing stuffed fruit kulfi, an innovative dessert where frozen kulfi is placed inside the hollowed-out fruit itself. This unique treat, with a range of fruit options, was developed in the 80s to meet customer demand for something different. After the original Kuremal passed away, his two sons, Mahavir Prasad and Mohanlal, split the business and started their own separate shops. The historic shop rebranded Kuremal Mahavir Prasad shop was taken over by Mahavir Prasad in 1975. They have not gone the franchise way and have their own outlets in Preetvihar, Pitampura and Kamla Nagar. Mohan Lal went franchise way and has opened several franchise outlets in Delhi.

No one makes it better than Kuremal's. Like most of the best business', Kuremal's is a family owned and run dessert destination with secrets recipes and famous innovations passed on from one generation to the next. The kulfi's are made in 50 odd flavors including ones made from fruits such as mangos, custard apples and even the unlikely tamarind. The flavor remains the best whether served on the street or in the 5 star hotel Kuremals cater to. The fan favorite here is the stuffed kulfi, which is made by extracting the stone of a ripe Alphonso mango and consequently filling it with rich kulfi. After freezing the mango skin is peeled away leaving you with a dessert containing delicious frozen fruit flesh and creamy kulfi melting out: One intended for the Gods! Nearest Metro Station : Chawri Bazar

Tucked near Chawri Bazar, Kuremal's other kulfi shop is a gem amidst Chandni Chowk’s vibrant chaos. I savored their jamun kulfi, a delightful balance of sweet and sour, elevated by a punchy masala topping that perfectly complemented the rich, fruity flavor. The consistency was spot-on—smooth ice blended seamlessly with juicy pulp, creating a refreshing treat. The shop carries the same nostalgic charm, with bustling streets and rickshaws outside adding to the experience. For anyone craving an authentic, flavorful kulfi in the heart of Old Delhi, this place is a must-visit!

This is my go-to dessert place every cheat day and boy do I love it! I tried the stuffed mango kulfi last night and I've never had a dessert more delicious and creamy. Five stars and more to the chefs for giving my tiring day such a great ending. Kuremal kulfi shop has very wide range of flavours and moreover of different types. In addition their quality and taste is one of the best in the area. Every kulfi lover must visit the kuremal kulfi shope This shop is located deep inside the markets of Chawri Bazaar and sells one of the most amazing kulfis in India. I tried its Mango Stuffed Kulfi and it was simply awesome. They have a unique preparation method - in which they fill ice-cream stuffing inside the fruit. So, the person can have both ice-cream and fruit together. A must-visit place if you are a food lover and present in Delhi. Finding this shop is bit difficult and so you have to ask some local people to find a way to this shop. The best mode to reach here is by Metro - after which there remains only...

kulfi shop! From the moment you walk in, you'll be greeted with a warm and friendly atmosphere, and the aroma of freshly-made kulfi will whet your appetite. The kulfi itself is simply amazing. It's rich, creamy, and packed with flavor, whether you go for the classic cardamom or try one of the many other tempting flavors like pistachio, mango, or rose. The texture is perfect, with just the right amount of creaminess and chewiness. And the portions are generous, so you'll definitely get your money's worth.

What's more, the staff here are incredibly friendly and helpful, always happy to answer any questions you might have and make recommendations based on your tastes. They really go above and beyond to make sure you have a great experience. Overall, I would highly recommend this kulfi shop to anyone who loves frozen desserts or wants to try something new and delicious. It's a true gem of a place, and I can't wait to go back and try...
