This place has made it's way on my list of overrated eatries. I have been here twice and haven't been able to find anything unusual in their sandwiches or coffee. The seating area of this place is a mess with no more than 3-4 tables has no cleanliness at all. I've had their fruit sandwich and a veg sandwich, which tasted okay just basic fruit sandwich nothing special although he says he uses kesar chutney in it but couldn't taste it even though I could see orange colour chutney on bread slice. The quantity is good but are overpriced. The way how they make it is not at all hygienic and even the fruits that they use are not fresh. The workers don't properly wash hands and touch everywhere while making your sandwich. And above all this the behaviour of the owner and workers is very rude, he did not allow me to take a pic of his sandwiches being prepared and said that in a very rude as if I was doing something wrong, and that is when a famous instagrammer had his sandwich making video on their page just a day before, so I suppose he only lets the famous ones who tell him about their insta take pics and videos so as to gain popularity and his shop is running just on hype.

This place is one of the hidden gems of Old Delhi. Locating it is a little bit difficult though. It's situated just opposite poddar cards street, chawri bazar. There's no name board or signage over there. It's just a normal tea stall and the ambience is just modest. However, the USP of this place is fruit sandwiches. I tried mango sandwich which was excellent. It contained mango, grapes and paneer slices along with jam. It's a unique sandwich which is not available anywhere else. I also had cold coffee which was just passable. Do try this place if you are in chawri bazar.

First of all it was difficult to find this place even with google maps. It’s located in a narrow lane. The food is very expensive for a place that offers no ambience or any AC facility. Yes it’s a very old cafe. But then it has not at all been maintained. I ordered a fruit sandwich and a pineapple shake. The sandwich was good but nothing extraordinary. And yes it was heavy, so two people can easily eat in a single plate. It mainly contained slices of mango. The pineapple shake was good. Overall this cafe was not worth the hype !

When you exit from the deepest Metro station, Chawri Bazar you will be overwhelmed by the utter chaos, of course in a good way, by seeing the rush at the busy Chowk (Hauz Quazi Chowk). This market consists of hardware and accessories stores (for which this market is mainly famous for), wedding cards shops, books market (nai sadak), there is a Lane dedicated and named after the type of shops selling that stuff. Among them, what pleases my eyes more is food, that good old street food that stops the travellers in their journey (or for whom the food is the destination itself).

Talking about Jain Coffee House, this small hidden place in the lanes of Chawri bazaar was long in my food hunting wishlist.

It's can be reached by walking towards Jama Masjid from the Hauz Quazi Chowk metro exit and taking a left turn on the street before the Nai Sadak left turn. Again take left at the end of the street and head straight to the corner where you can see the coffee and tea shop that also sells fruit sandwiches for which it's famous for along with the good old veggies and paneer sandwich, can be ordered with toasted or non toasted breads. Served with green chutney and ketchup, they tastes very simple yet full of flavours. And not to mention their milkshakes consists of real fresh fruits, instead of that...
