The location is surprisingly quieter considering the hotel is in close proximity of Jama Masjid Area.
It is near Gate 3 where most tourist buses halt so it is less crowded around the hotel.
View from the Hotel of the Grand Jama Masjid is breathtaking. Quite a different experience viewing the beautiful mosque from the room window. The night view with lights make for a worthwhile experience. ( the room though is super deluxe with this view ).
Room cleanliness was not upto the mark. It needs an overall upgrade. The sofa in the room need s repair as the seat was really dirty. Had to cover it with a towel to use it.
Bathroom and room were clean but could have been better. Linen was again OK but not upto the mark.
Tea maker was a good help. If only they provide complimentary water itwould be better. Because the price charged for a super deluxe room is on a higher side compared to other Old Delhi hotels.
Restaurant Gumbadh Cafe had a mesmerizing view of the Jama Masjid especially at night with beautiful lighting. No wonder it is always Jam Packed with guest from all around Delhi. This restaurant is a really happening place , quiet unexpected considering the location of Old Delhi 🙂.
Overall an ok stay. Would definitely stay again due to its proximity to the best Mughlai food in Delhi. Although the cleanliness part needs to be resolved...
Read moreWe stayed at the hotel Aiwan E Shahi for 3 nights. Hotel location was which was ideal for us. Stayed in a triple bed room in the 1st floorand liked the Room a lot as we were three persons and it was spacious enough to accomodate us all . Beds were comfortable but Not lavish. People are also friendly and we'll versed with Hindi and english. Staff was polite and very kind to us during our entire stay. Facilities in rooms such as tv , free wifi, comlimentary toiletries. Other facilities include a resturant. We enjoyed a lot with their hospitality.
Since this is at the centre of the town and opposite to Jamia masjid it have limited car parking and very much likely and affordable . Its a first choice of Foreigners too who come here as they have access to other Tourist attraction places like Lal qila, Jamia masjid ,and many other places . Note that this a newly built hotel with quite a lot of sounds in the evening. The bed was super comfortable and house keeping was bit efficient and thorough. On a final but really important note the complimentary wifi for guests was excellent and allowed me to keep in touch with my family. Persons at front desk Mr Vijay, Mr Inayat and Mr Shehzad were very polite and professional. They helped us in every aspect. Extra 🌟 for their team. Kudos...
Read moreThe view from the 4th floor restaurant terrace is a 5/5, but that's it. This is written after staying at other 3 star hotels in India with my family, so no ethocentric western fantasies and expectations going on here. The toliet was so tight on 3 walls that my kids could'nt even use it. I had to ask for towels, slept on a foamy, the TV didn't work and required staff assistance, and there was no apparent way to contact the front desk from my room. The WiFi was out as well. The bedding and room itself wasn't that clean, but no biggy for India. The worst thing was the thick smell of tabacco smoke in the halls from poor ventalation and everyone smoking in their rooms, it was disgusting, and I smoke.
The restaurant service was horrendous. They gave us a 1 liter bottle of water, twice, with no glasses, it took 35 min for toast and jam, 40 min for tea, I finished my coffee after waiting 20 min for sugar, they did'nt clear any plates off the table as new family members came in to sit, and did'nt clean ash trays from previous customers. Keep in mind, there was only one other occupied table at the time, and they were just having tea, plus whatever room service.
At the end of the day, it might say 3 star hotel but it...
