Walking into the newly renovated E-Square on University Road felt like stepping into the future while holding hands with the past. For someone like me who spent countless teenage years here—laughing with friends, catching late-night shows, bunking lectures for first-day-first-shows—this place holds layers of nostalgia stitched into every corner. The crown jewel, Screen 5, still stands tall with its grandeur—the giant screen that once made every blockbuster feel larger than life. I remember how it made even the smallest rom-com feel epic back in the day, and thankfully, they’ve retained its scale while upgrading the sound and visuals to match modern standards. The clarity and surround sound now are absolutely stunning, but the spirit of those youthful movie marathons is perfectly intact. What’s refreshing is that the renovation hasn't wiped away the soul of the place. Sure, there are swanky new lounges, more comfortable seating, and a sleeker, modern vibe all around—but if you’ve grown up in Pune, you’ll still recognize the charm that made E-Square the go-to hangout spot of your college days. The food court and common areas are brighter, cleaner, and far more inviting now—great for the post-movie chai or catching up with old friends. But for me, the real magic lies in how this place bridges memories of the past with the excitement of watching new stories unfold. For anyone who grew up in Pune, E-Square isn’t just a cinema—it's a little time capsule. And it’s so good to see it shining again.

Visited E-Square Shivajinagar recently to watch a movie in Screen 5, and it brought back a wave of pure nostalgia. This was the theatre we used to visit often back in the day, and it was a tradition to head to the McDonald’s next door after the movie — such great memories. Now that it’s renovated and reopened, I thought of reliving those old days. While the seating is quite nice and feels upgraded, I was honestly disappointed with the screen and sound quality in Screen 5. It feels like they haven’t updated the projector or audio system in years. The picture quality was dull, especially in 3D, and the sound lacked clarity and punch. I really hope the management considers upgrading the screen and sound setup. E-Square holds a special place in the hearts of many Pune folks, and it deserves to live up to those fond memories with a truly upgraded experience.

Visited this multiplex after almost three years. It was newly renovated. Theater is good but the main problem lies into that, that the exit gets which opens to staircase. For senior citizens it is very problematic. We have to take stairs which leads to parking and exit to the mall. If anybody is unaware of this fact and wants to use washrooms after a movie, have to walk all the way and after using stairs, then again have to enter into the mall. So there should be some information written on the entrance of the movie screen, so that people can know about this..

Extremely Disappointing Experience with BookMyShow & E-SQUARE (University Road, Pune)

Booked tickets for Housefull 5A via BookMyShow for Friday, 13th June 2025 | 10:30 PM at E-SQUARE, University Road (OLD). Upon reaching the venue — in heavy rain — we were shocked to learn that the show was canceled with no prior intimation.

The venue manager showed me an email they had sent to the BookMyShow team regarding the cancellation, but apparently BookMyShow never acknowledged it — and still continued accepting bookings. An absolute failure in communication and customer care.

To make things worse: We paid parking charges despite the canceled show and were told no refund was possible as it's handled by a third-party vendor. The staff simply told us to book new tickets if we wanted to watch a movie — no courtesy or real solution offered. The manager said he'd follow up and share the mail trail. He even gave his number, but later someone else picked up and offered no help. Clearly, false commitments.

It's now been 5 days, and BookMyShow has still not reissued the amount for reuse or refund. No communication. No accountability. Nothing.

One of the worst movie experiences ever. Complete mismanagement and indifference from both BookMyShow and the E-SQUARE team. A simple prior notification could've saved us all this...
