The Teach Dolmen is incredible. Their food is ALWAYS perfect. Never ever leave disappointed. They are fast and efficient while also being very friendly. The traditional style pub leads into a calmer more tranquil restaurant with lovely lighting. The Teach Dolmen are so confident and proud of their kitchen that customers can actually see into it if they wish. It is very family friendly with staff always ensuring that the child is treated as an individual and not just an extension of their parent. The children are handed their own menus (whether they are of age to read or not) and asked what it is they would like to order. They are also given pictures to colour to keep them occupied. The bathrooms are always spotless as is everything else is the place. The Teach Dolmen also has large function rooms up stairs for private events or parties, plus they have live bands and DJs at night time. It has everything and more. This place came highly recommended as one of the best gastropubs in carlow. Sorely disappointed with it. Starters Duck spring rolls for started were OK. Spicy chicken strips were nice for the first 2 or 3 bites then coudknt actually stomach any more of it. It wasn't spicy at all, just tons of sugar and salt. Left half of it there. Mains Steak sandwich was grey, no char on it, pure rubber and the bread was soggy as hell. I ate it because I was hungry. Thai Red curry was inedible! It was poisoned with salt, so much so that you'd pull faces trying to eat it. The waiter came over to ask if everything was OK as I had a mouthful of food and then he just ran off. We left the entire curry on the table. I said it to the staff member at the till about how bad the food was and all I got was oh sorry. Spent €60 to leave an entire meal there. Better places in carlow to eat. Only gave a star because the duck spring rolls were OK. Never eat...

Honestly I’m so upset how I was treated in teach tonight. I went in was seated within a few minutes . The waitress gave us the menu and that was that. She didn’t ask if we wanted a drink while we wait to order. Anyway we waited and waited for someone to come down and take our orders. It was over 30 minutes and no one was willing to come down to serve us so we decided to leave. I would have understand if the place was busy but it was quiet . I was so looking forward to eating in Teach, however due to staff don’t seeming to know when to take someone’s order we decided to leave and go somewhere else. I also want to say we were put into a corner table. A party arrived in after us and they got seen to immediately and must have forgotten about that.
