The gallery had friendly staff. The brief demonstration helped us understand the fine detail of the craft work. It helped us learn an appreciation for the workmanship of the artists.
The sales staff were very friendly, informative and took the time to ensure we picked a cameo (pendant charm) that was absolutely perfect for my daughter.
The show room was stunning. They had items from fairly affordable to more costly. Something for everyone. They also had decorative old style revolver/ mini musket wall mounted inoperable gun. They also had decorative sword or dagger type metal work and metal sculptures. They had all sorts of affordable and well made inexpensive bracelets and necklaces in the very far show room and even had a clearance display with select items. These items were upto 70 percent off (if I remember correctly). That made something a couple hundred Euros even more obtainable. They had really pretty, dainty bracelets in the back showroom (by the bathroom) for only $15 Euros.
Worst case as a low income traveller myself, they had quality engraved sea shells for $13 to $50 Euros (depending on size and engravement). The astrology shell of Scorpio was $13. My daughter was fine to get that because it was from an authentic gallery and supporting their local students/artists. We were told they only have one school to officially teach this trade and it's located there. We did end up getting a cameo but there was no pressure when we explained we were on a tight budget. The lady helped us look within the available stock and made the experience very memorable for my daughter.
I was impressed by the professionalism of the worker we dealt with but I can understand some people's experiences claiming some staff might not have been friendly. We were on a school trip and some of the other participants and additional tourist shoppers were immature or touching everything and criticizing prices or detail of items. That can try any sales persons patience and even be disrespectful to their local craft and cultural traditions especially if there was never an intention to buy. I can appreciate the sales person perspective. It's hard to sell to people who do not care or understand the craft and want to hustle for a cheap deal. If you want tourist trinkets there are plenty of local kiosk stalls right outside of local venders and one ramffle up their stock like a flea market for a quick and easy sale.
This store is almost like a museum and if one approaches with admiration and time, it can be a very rewarding and educational experience. It's not a place for negative Nellie's.
Even if one doesn't but anything but walks through, it can be equally as satisfying.
We bought the cheapest cameo and there was no shame or judgement. We bought our items with dignity and made to feel as important as someone who bought the thousands of euro jewellery.
The staff acted professional and the atmosphere is exactly the way I would expect any boujee place to be like.
We left 100% satisfied.
Ps. Their bathroom was clean, safe and a welcome pitstop during the...
Read moreStopped here cause our tour guide picked this spot for our restroom stop. Beautiful jewelry. Really they are. I ended up buying a whole set for my mother and a set for myself along with a ring. They sell you on this by saying don’t worry you get the taxes back when you leave. Keep that in mind. This allows you not to negotiate. “Donny worry you get it back” was repeated over and over. Well I get to the airport and guess what???? They didn’t give me the right paperwork. And guess what?? In the store they are supposed to ask you for your passport information so they can make a claim on their end. I ended up getting zero back. They custom agents looked like he had seen his share of people being cheated on when it came to this So shady. Just do what you will say you will do. Yes we are tourists. Yes we may not come back for a while but the taste you guys left in our mouth is not good! Do better And I hope this serves as a warning for anyone shopping there or anywhere in Italy that says “you’ll get the tax back” make sure they give you the right paperwork and report it...
Read moreWe (My girlfriend & I) came there 10 min before store closing, went downstairs and were told that „the toilettes are closed“. Once we said we wanted to look at the jewelry, the women got into a happier mood. Once we looked through, she got all pushy to sell. After having thanked the woman for her time and help we wanted to leave as we were not interested anymore. Once we left her, her colleagues asked in Italian if we purchased something… because we didn’t, they made fun of her. Really bad experience & would definitely not buy something...
