We decided to eat here because it was convenient and there was a vegan item listed on the menu. The manager LIED to us that the food was vegan and caused me to get sick for the rest of the night.
Before ordering, we mentioned to our waiter that we were vegan and they seemed confused. We pointed to the only vegan item on the menu and said "no dairy or meat" to clarify our needs.
The food that came out to us had real cheese. The item on the menu didn't even have cheese listed as an ingredient (which confused me further). I asked to speak with a manager and pointed out that we ordered a vegan dish and the manager said, "Oh, show me where it is on the menu then." When I pointed it out she said, "Well, it is vegan cheese." This reaction made it seem like they didn't even know they had vegan food on the menu. Then, as we continued to eat our meal another manager was behind us speaking over a phone in what seemed like a distressed tone, and must have said the word vegan like 50 times. Weird, right?
My partner and I have been vegan for over 10 years and have never seen vegan cheese like this, that browns, melts, and stretches like real cheese. I ate half of it convincing myself that the vegan cheese in Italy must be really good... Why would they lie to us? But I got sick later. The kind of sick you get from eating dairy when you haven't...
Read moreAwful experience. Our tour guide recommended it for a good and quick lunch and it was terrible. One of the others in my tour group has celiac disease and ordered the gluten free pizza. It came out cold and uncooked. She sent it back to be recooked and it came back hot and soggy, fresh out of the microwave. The regular pizzas looked good when they started to come out but our doubts about the quality based on the gluten free pizza were confirmed once we received ours. My margherita pizza came out plenty hot, but no traces of basil. The sauce was ok taste wise, but there was way too much and it was fairly watery making the entire pizza soggy. Not only was it soggy, but the crust was actually burnt and charred underneath, so the combination of those flavors and the soggy texture was truly repulsive. I had no hopes of getting my money back and finding another place since we were on a tight schedule, so I ended up pulling the crust off from the middle, cutting off burnt areas and dipping it in olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Luckily out tour manager was great and got most of our money back for us after we told her how bad our experience was. I would recommend going anywhere else when visiting Pompeii. If I were to go back, I'd just get an orange or two at the fresh...
Read moreTLDR: Absolute catastrophe ahead. First of all, my friends and I, a party of seven, were treated with complete ignorance by the staff. We specifically told them we only had an hour to spare, but they couldn't have cared less about our time constraints.
One of my friends got their food after just five minutes. However, the rest of us had to wait for another 35 more minutes, only to see the table next to us, who ordered later, get the pizzas we had originally ordered. With only ten minutes remaining of our hour, we finally got the pizzas that the other table had ordered. We just accepted them since we didn't have any time left and we needed to eat something.
Not only were the pizzas poorly timed, but they were also really bad. They were watery, mushy, and very small. To top it all off, the contents just slipped off when you tried to take a bite. It was a complete disaster.
But the worst part? When we tried to pay, we were informed that we couldn't pay separately. One of us had to pay the whopping 120€ bill for six pizzas, six waters, one coke, and one pasta. It was just another frustrating experience to end our terrible visit.
I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone - avoid it...
