Excellent sauna and onsen! Entrance ¥510, additional ¥210 to rent a yukata for the steam bath if you haven't brought something of your own. Shampoos provided, you need to bring your own towel. Operating hours 6:30-20:00, there is parking. You get your tickets from the vending machine and give them to the reception, here you can get your onsen stamp as well (both Beppu and Kyushu stamps). You'll be directed in the onsen area to wash your lower part of the body, then you will put on your yukata and enter the sauna through a small door, you will actually crawl inside. You can choose from the start the timing, 8 or 10 minutes. Laying on the herbs while sweating inside the steam bath is really relaxing and it can actually get pretty hot, you use your towel as a pillow placed on a rock. They will set up a timer and let you know when your time is up. Then you go out on top of a mat and toss any herbs stuck on you. Finally its time to bathe in the onsen. You can't see your stuff while bathing, lockers are ¥100. There are 4 places to wash up with shower heads, stool and mirror. The tub is small size made of tiles and rock. here’s what to expect (as someone who was confused):
you buy a ticket from the vending machine for bathing fee, yukata rental and towel (if needed). the staff at the counter will pass you the items.
after you enter the changing room, shower and then put on the yukata. the staff will tell you when to enter the sauna and will set a timer. inside the sauna, you lie down on the hot stone iris leaves. there are stones on the ground to support your head - use your towel to cover the stone and lie down.
the staff will tell you when it’s the 8 minute mark and you can choose to leave or stay for up to another 2 minutes.
