I was at the shop about two weeks ago and remembered all the things I was asking - in hindsight, I saw myself asking for things that was pretty troublesome, but the cashier and manager (maybe owner?) was very accommodating and polite all the way through.
I asked about a gamecube controller and the manager started cleaning an orange one for me, to make it presentable. He cleaned it for a while but when he brought it to me, I said never mind - that could've been a pain, but he was very patient and kind still.
The clerk was showing me an animal crossing kk slider 3ds. I wanted to buy a few games but ironically animal crossing wasn't working. They both worked pretty hard under a crunch time because of me to find out why it wasn't working (I had people waiting on me). They saw me getting anxious because of the others who were waiting and kept reassuring me - then we found the solution.
The manager even came out to greet my companions and even apologized - he really didn't have to, but he and the cashier were so genuine with me, despite me being a bother. Thank you both for the best customer service I could ask for.
One last note was communicating with them wasn't a problem at all - I can't even say I'm N5 in japanese. But they connected dots in my broken Japanese and their customer service English, and we communicated no problem.
In short, I highly recommend them. Next time I'm in Kamakura, I'll want to...
Read moreB-Dash is hands down the most charming and delightful retro game store we visited during our three-week stay in Japan. Tucked away in the beautiful seaside town of Kamakura, it’s an absolute treasure trove for vintage gaming enthusiasts.
The store is impeccably organized and features an incredible selection of rare and classic gems, all in pristine condition. From vintage Gameboy cartridges to Nintendo rarities, every item feels carefully curated and lovingly preserved.
We had been searching all over Japan—from Akihabara in Tokyo to shops in Osaka—for Tamagotchis, but it wasn’t until we stepped into B-Dash that our prayers were answered. Not only did we find exactly what we were looking for, but we also left with so much more than just games—we left with one of the loveliest memories of our trip.
The owner is, without a doubt, one of the kindest and most welcoming people we met during our time in Japan. His passion for retro gaming and his decades-old collection shine through every corner of the store. He was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and a genuine joy to chat with.
If you have any interest in gaming or retro collectibles, make sure to plan a day trip to Kamakura’s gorgeous beaches and visit B-Dash. It’s more than a store—it’s an experience you won’t forget!
All that is left to say is: vielen Dank, I wish I could give more...
Read moreIf you're considering to become a repeater, I wouldn't recommend this shop. I purchased a gameboy console and 2 game packs for my little boy this year. My boy loved the gift, so I decided to purchase dozens more game packs. I live abroad but I make frequent trips to Japan for work and personal, so I reached out to the owner to buy more game packs. The owner initially responded timely, but when I asked a couple of follow-up questions, the owner ignored my message. Assuming that he may have considered that I was a customer abroad wasting his time with inquiries, I followed up 2 days later to be clear that I am here to actually purchase and will follow his style of engagement to make this work out (what kind of customer lets go of a poor service, and try to make an honest deal). Despite my genuine effort, he responded once and again ghosted me 4 days ago. I'm very disappointed at his poor customer service, I can understand that he's definitely targeting one-time travellers as customers only, but in that case don't try to pretend that you want to attend to follow-up purchase inquiries. Simply be true to yourself and...
