A young female staff member treated me and my children rudely, showed irritation that we do not speak Japanese, and even snickered at us. In a dessert shop that receives many tourists, such an attitude is unacceptable anywhere in the world and is shameful. Honestly, if foreigners are going to be treated this way, it would be more sincere to post a sign saying ‘No foreigners allowed.’ Having loved Japan, visited many times, and contributed to its society, this experience was extremely unpleasant.
