👜✨ More than a bag—a bridge between Kyoto’s past and your everyday style.
At Kyoto Denim, just a 5-minute walk from Kyoto Station, tradition doesn’t live behind glass—it’s stitched, painted, and worn.
Their handcrafted bags are true works of art: made from top-tier Japanese denim, delicately hand-painted using the centuries-old Kyo-Yuzen technique, and finished with premium Japanese leather. But here’s the magic—they’re designed to be effortlessly versatile.
👗 Pair one with a kimono for a tea ceremony? Perfect. 👖 Throw it over your shoulder with jeans and a white tee? Just as stunning.
And it gets even more personal: 🎨 You can custom-order a hand-painted Kyo-Yuzen design right onto your own jeans or denim jacket! Turn your favorite piece into a wearable work of Kyoto art.
Don’t miss their little treasures, either—like the handmade teddy bears dressed in the same artisan-dyed denim. Sweet, soulful, and utterly unique.
Whether you’re looking for a meaningful souvenir, a timeless accessory, or a custom touch for your wardrobe—this is where Kyoto’s craft...
Read moreToday l had a chance to participate a denim coaster painting workshop just a few minutes’ walk away from #Kyoto Station. The workshop is held in a cozy, family-run store that combines traditional kimono artwork with a modern twist by using denim to create unique accessories. l loved the hand painted bags!!! Workshop was guided by Kazu San, who was very kind, and warm-welcoming. He explained every detail clearly in English from start to finish, which made it very easy to follow along. The workshop was relaxing and enjoyable, giving us a chance to play colors. Painting on denim was both fun and unique (at least for me, l have experienced it for the forst time) and I loved being able to take home my own handmade coaster attached with the brush that we used in the workshop as a memory. Thanks to Kazu San, he has provided us proper packaging. I recommend this workshop to anyone looking for a hands-on experience with your own...
Read moreI happened to walk by Kyoto Denim and decided to stop in. They don’t sell denim jeans like I first imagined, but instead, they have many beautiful small denim items like coin purses, bags, and keychains. Each one caught my eye.
What impressed me most was the high level of embroidery and dyeing techniques. There are both colorful and calm designs, and all of them have a kind of elegant Kyoto style.
Inside the shop, the craftsman himself kindly explained not only about the products, but also about indigo dyeing, Kyoto’s traditional techniques, and even local history. His stories were fun and interesting, and I stayed longer than I planned.
I bought a denim coin purse for myself. It’s strong, easy to use, and makes me feel good every time I use it.
If you are looking for something handmade with Japanese craftsmanship, I really recommend this shop.
P.S. The staff could speak English well, and I could feel his passion for...
