If you are looking for kimono rental and photoshoot on a budget, THIS IS THE PLACE! The staff are very friendly and they take walk-ins. You can choose from an assortment of kimonos or yukata which all vary on price depending if you are looking for basic outfit or something more formal. What I loved was how you could customize everything, from the obi to the sandals to your hair. This place truly works to fit every budget. The staff will do everything, from helping you dress to doing your hair to showing you where the photo studio is. Rさん is the one who helped me pick out my kimono and accessories and help dress me and do my hair. She was very friendly and did an amazing job! The 15-minute photo shoot for 2200 yen is honestly the best deal out there! You get an entire small photo studio (its good size for 2-3 people with white backdrop) with a high quality camera complete with an assortment of props like a traditional kimono umbrellas, flowers, swords, banners, signs, a stool, etc. You are the photographer as you get this button to take the pictures which is super easy and it is unlimited photos in the 15-minute window. There is a medium sized screen in the photo studio by the camera that shows you exactly what the camera is showing, so you don't have to worry if you aren't centered or how the photos will come out. You can see them all in real time as you take them! Also there is the 15-minute timer above camera so you don't have to worry about how much time is left as it is right there for reference. The setup is truly 5-star and genius! You'll get your pictures on Google Drive via email and you get them same day! All the photos are very high quality and online to download. This beats paying over 10,000 yen to get a 30 minute photo shoot outside with all the crowds and heat. I highly, highly recommend this place for kimono and photoshoot! You won't be...
Read moreOne experience you definately to try in Japan is wear a Kimono and explore the city.
I had the chance to experience it in Kyoto and Kyoto Kimono Rental Wargo is a place I highly recommend.
Although making an advanced booking is recommended but you can also walk in.
The staff there is very friendly, polite and professional and guide you through the entire process of selecting the kimono of your choice and wearing it.
You have the added option of upgrading every part of your kimono for an additional price, however I chose to just keep it simple and let the staff decide on the colour combinations and the accessories and they chose it perfectly for me.
The lady who helped me wear the Kimono was also extremely gracious and super nice.
You need to return the kimono by 5 pm or else you get charged for an extra day.
The kimono is really comfortable to wear and I did not feel hot in it although it was a Sunny day.
They give you a bag to store your belongings and they keep it at the store with a ticket, give them the ticket when returning your kimono and you can change back to your normal attire once done.
For men it takes about 45 mins to an hour from the entire selection process until wearing it, would be longer for ladies as it would also include makeup and other stuff.
I would suggest going there as early as possible so that you have enough time to explore the city in your Japanese attire.
The only struggle I found was that the place Kyoto tower opens at 10 am, and you can book a slot from 9 am, so if you go there before 10 am it is a little hard to find. The trick is there is only one entrance open at 9 am, which is at the back side of the building if your facing Starbucks on the side street.
The store is located on the 3rd Floor (3F).
I highly recommend this place and you should definitely give it a go.
Thank you to everyone.
