A wonderful shop if you like vintage Japanese kimono. I visited in July and it was not too busy, since it is a bit off the beaten tourist trail. The shop has tons of stock, is a bit cramped and on three levels, so you need good legs and stamina. First floor had Showa-era silk kimono and obi, stunningly beautiful. I saw a brocade obi for about 4k Yen... very tempting but I had something different in mind. But, as a Westerner, you would need to be very petite to fit in the vintage kimono.
A different floor has "bargains" - lower priced kimono. Also, rolls of kimono fabric. What a treasure trove. Since I am on the tall and wide side, I was looking for some vintage kimono for "remake" to make accessories etc. from beautiful vintage fabric. Here, you can find kimono and kimono-associated items starting from 500JPY. There are racks and racks of stock. All beautiful. I bought a lovely vintage haori... given the style, maybe 1970s. I dare not cut into the fabric, and it fits me as a loose and light jacket so I actually wear it and it is one of my favourite Japanese souvenirs.
When I visited, there was a sales lady who spoke impeccable English, so I guess it would be easy to ask if you are looking for something specific. A wonderful shop that I look forward to visit again. I do not have much comparison, but I went to some of the more tourist area shops near Nishiki Market and Kitano Tenmangu Flea Market and I like this shop best - huge amount of stock.
Last not least, I was very glad not to see a cat in a cage there. So I hop ethe cat I have seen on some photos is living a happy uncaged life as a...

The whole second floor is everything at only 500 yen. You can find every single thing you need to wear kimono. And they have beautiful selection and great quality. Original items and not some fast fashion copy.
The shoes do they to run small but thatโs unavoidable buying second hand in Japan.
Canโt recommend enough.
The first floor has even better quality and even some brand new items. But the prices are accordingly higher. Still very accesible though.
An extra thing is that the interior is amazing. Very gothic and...

The staff are very friendly, even though they speak limited English but they still trying their best to understand my needs and answer my questions (they even apologise for not being able to explain it well) Even you are not interested to buy anything, it is worth to pay a visit to this place to take some photos and say hi to the...
