Lawson Narita Airport Terminal 1 (5F) (ローソン 成田国際空港第1旅客ターミナルビル5階店) is a reliable, comforting presence in the bustle of international travel. It may not be the most robust Lawson out there, but it's an essential final (or first) stop for travelers craving one last bite, drink, or convenience. Self-checkout included. 4/5
Full Review: Your Last-Minute Lifesaver – Lawson Narita Airport Terminal 1, 5th Floor (ローソン 成田国際空港第1旅客ターミナルビル5階店)
Japan is a country that doesn’t just do convenience—it perfects it. And nowhere is that more evident than in its ubiquitous konbinis. Among them, Lawson holds a special place in my heart, and seeing one at Narita International Airport, just before a flight (or while waiting for someone to arrive), is a quiet kind of joy.
Situated on the fifth floor of Terminal 1, this particular Lawson is more than just a store—it’s a final pit stop before international transit. Whether you’re stocking up on drinks and snacks for the flight, grabbing a last-minute omiyage (souvenir), or simply craving one more bite of Japanese convenience food before heading abroad, this Lawson delivers with ease.
The store layout is efficient, and they’ve wisely included a self-checkout kiosk alongside staffed registers, a welcome option in a fast-moving airport setting. That said, I've noticed that this kiosk can occasionally turn into tourist bottlenecks. A quick note to fellow travelers: if you're confused by the touchscreen, just whip out Google Translate and go with the flow—it’s quick, and you'll save the line behind you a few deep sighs.
Now, in fairness, this isn’t a flagship store. Stock can run a little lean, especially during busy hours, and the crowds can build up fast. You might not find every seasonal or regional item here. But honestly? You’re in an airport. The fact that you still have access to Lawson’s lineup of fresh onigiri, premium sandwiches, fried chicken, sweets, and drinks is a win in my book.
In a world of overpriced airport food and lackluster vending machines, Lawson is a beacon—consistent, comforting, and reasonably priced. It might not dazzle, but it doesn’t have to. It gets the job done, and it does it with Japanese precision.
Final Verdict: 4/5. A bit crowded, occasionally picked-over, but still a marvel of Japanese convenience and efficiency in a place where you need it most. If you’re leaving Japan, consider this your last love letter from Lawson. If you’ve just arrived—welcome. You’re off to...
Read moreThe store was very busy but one of the girls at the counter was being very patience in helping me to use up the leftover balance on the transit card. It is a shame that none of the stores in the airport accept 2 types of payment in one transaction. However, I'm giving this review 2 stars because of the 2 Onigiris sold to me were out of dates. I've only managed to take picture of one of them only as I didn't realise they would sell expired foods to customers! I did wonder why she changed one of the Onigiris that I originally took when I was...
Read moreNarita is a airport with limited opening hours, hence this Lawson maybe a godsend for those arriving early / departing late. Not crowded as located at highest 5F towards north extreme corner after 'food court'. Other options for food / drinks hours are 8am-5pm. These is a relatively medium store with lots of options piled high, there are microwaves and hot water, hot food too along with day fresh sandwiches and instant noodles. The automated coin machine also takes all sorts of leftover coins and change notes. Really useful store and 24 hour...
