I was leaving Tokyo, when I found this lovely store at Narita airport. I really loved the designs of the Hawaiian t-shirts. The designs, the silk material, the coloring - beautiful. However… when looking at the shirts closely - for all of the shirts on display as well as the still shrink-wrapped ones from the back of the store, I had to find, shockingly, that NONE, NOT A SINGLE ONE of them, did the fabric patterns in the front align properly!!! Buying other, non-Japanese silk Hawaiian shirts, I have come to only buy any shirt if I can check personally, or if I can see pictures of the actual shirt for sale because of this. Because if you want to buy a shirt because of a pattern, you do NOT want just a blob of color, you want the design and the pattern to work. Otherwise, you‘ll always think of it when wearing it, or you always have to wear it open. For any odd $50 shirt, this might be okay… but not for a Japanese-made (!!!) ¥50,000 (!!!) shirt. I cannot express how disappointed I am in the lack of craftsmanship and quality. I don‘t think this is because the brand is knowingly selling subpar items - to me it looks like they are simply not aware of this (even their website has examples of badly aligned shirts!!!). I add pictures, sorted from disastrous to okay to perfect alignment… the first three are from Pagong‘s website. The very first reduces a (already somewhat wild) design to a color blurb. Note that the last shirt (non-Pagong) is perfectly aligned, not only in the middle, but also the pocket aligns (Pagong‘s shirts of this type do not have pockets). Sumimasen - but this is...
