At the check out, we had a huge order and after we paid, we noticed two bottles of alcohol were not packed in the duty free bag. We asked if it's okay because we thought maybe alcohol don't need to be sealed. The cashier, who's probably in training as I saw on her name tag, started a new order for the bottles and did not give us tax refund or apply our 5% off coupon. I asked her multiple times if we can get the tax refund or the 5%, she kept replying no, pushing the bag towards us, meaning we should leave.
I googled whether alcohol should be tax free and it should be. I went back to ask her why I didn't get it and she finally said she would have to return everything and scan them again. No apology whatsoever for forgetting to scan the bottles and costing me the money. I know it's not a lot of money but it's the principle. I told her ok we can do that, because it is not my fault that she forgot to scan them. She stopped and said it will take 20 minutes, I am guessing she was implying I should not do it because it was too much work. I said ok I'll wait, and a senior female staff came to help her.
We waited for 15 minutes. They called us back to the cashier and said they refunded the first order to my card and immediately asked me to pay for the second corrected order. The card didn't go through. They announced it loudly. They asked me to try again. My bank locked my card because they refunded and charged again in a very short period of time. At the end, my husband had to pay with his card which costed us foreign transaction fee. This whole time, the cashier was glaring at us, like we were there to cause trouble on purpose.
When they finished scanning and we paid, they forgot to give us one of the bags. We realized that when we got back to the hotel. Afraid that the staff might not admit their fault, like they did the first time, we carried all our bags and receipts back to the store. Luckily, one of the more senior staff who helped us recognized us and got us the bag. I wonder why they didn't come after us when we first left the store. If we were in Seoul, they would have done it. At this point, it's about 11:50 at night.
It's extremely exhausting just because the cashier made a small mistake and refused to communicate it. If she would have let me know and apologize, I would have refunded the two bottles and buy something else so we can have a big enough order for the tax refund and 5%, or I would have even just taken them home. The senior staff was pleasant and helpful. I don't understand why she thanked the cashier after the transaction even though she caused everyone all the trouble. I don't think we were being unreasonable for asking them to correct their mistakes. We shouldn't have to absorb the consequences of her mistakes or deal with...
ย ย ย Read moreA very cute convenience store, with many items at an affordable price. It's like Walmart, but with a cute penguin mascot! It is tax-free for tourists if you spend over 5000 yen, but the items themselves aren't all that cheap ... Kitkats are 298 yen a bag, where I've found them for 198 yen at other locations. This place is often crowded and busy with other tourists, too, so it's not the best location to visit especially during weekends and all evenings. The aisles are super tight, even two people standing side-by-side is not enough room ... Some items I wanted also weren't available at this location. If it's your first time at a Don Quijote, definitely check this place out. Otherwise, best to visit other locations for more...

His behavior offends all the people. even we reflect our emotions immediately, he still keep the same attitude! Whatโ s more! A young staff (aging 35-40 maybe) also join to laugh when he comes to help the elder staff. I write the complaint letter to Donki donki yesterday, and hope other customers can also notice such a bad situation before you enter to the store. You can have other choice, other distributors, may be a...
