Incredible hotel. My husband and I stayed here for a week on our honeymoon and it was incredible.
We arrived really early and they happily took our bags and when we asked about early check in, it was handled basicaly immediately.
Before we went up to the room, they showed us a small table by the lift with a little sheet over it and told us to take anything we wanted. It was full of complimentary amenities like bath salts and face masks!
The room was great, and a really decent size compared to the other hotels I'd looked at for the same value (we had a corner double) and the bed felt massive! My husband is 6ft tall and has a larger build and we were both more than comfortable.
They also have an amazing tablet service that allows you to say how much cleaning the room needs, to see whether the laundry area is in use, and loads of other things.
The TV selection was really good, and there's a bilingual option for some of the channels.
The location is perfect! It's just down the road from the rail station and even closer to the metro! Ameya-yokocho is across the road, Ueno park (which ended up being one of our favourite places), the oldest zoo in Japan, and Ueno main station are a 5 to 10 minute walk away. There's loads of incredible food really close by, a 24/7 Jonathan's just behind it, family marts, 7/11's, a pharmacy and a 24/7 Don Quijote just down the road. There's also an incredible private karaoke place next door (Pasela).
The decor and overall feel of the hotel is fantastic. It's a relatively new hotel, but everything still feels so clean, inviting, and comfortable, and it doesn't seem like it will age badly either.
The staff are incredibly friendly, polite, and helpful despite us not speaking much Japanese at all.
We changed to a different hotel in a different area part way after a week, and we found ourselves really missing the place. When we come back, I can see us immediately returning...

Read moreWe stayed at this hotel for the Tokyo part of our Japan vacation and we are very happy with our choice.
Location: The hotel has a great location. There's 2 train station very close (Okachimachi and Ueno-hirokoji) with which you can reach any place in Tokyo either directly or with 1-2 changes. Plenty of really good restaurants nearby (a really good place is Hakata Gekijo, just 20 metres from the hotel) and shops. The Ueno park is very close and Akihabara (arcades, pachinko) is 15 min by foot or 1 station by train away.
Hotel: The hotel is very clean and cozy, the staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast is very limited (3 meal sets consisting of japanese bread, scrambled eggs, potato salad, onion curry chutney, condiments and protein of your choosing) but also very tasty. So unless you have some dietary restrictions or preferences, it's nice to get. There's laundry machine at the reception and little things such as tea, sponge, toothbrush, sunscreen etc. offered, which is very nice. You can sign up for their fidelity program which is free and get a discount on your booking.
Room: We picked a corner room because it was slightly bigger. Probably not the best idea because we are facing the main street, which is nice for the view but not nice for the traffic noise (mostly just police/ambulance sirens) at night. The room is also pretty cold/badly insulated, although AC fixes that for the most part. Otherwise the room is big enough and clean. The bed is good size. The bathroom is compact but nice and cozy, with typical Japanese toilet and bathtub. Basic bathroom necessities are provided either directly in the bathroom or at the reception, with the exception of...
