Great that this place was available during 2019's typhoon #19 on short notice, but it was uncomfortable. I stayed in the non-smoking section, but throughout the day and night I felt like I was in an izakaya. My hair and clothes smelled like 2nd hand smoke . It didn't matter whether I took a shower or not. The smell lingered with me throughout the day on my clothes. The capsule itself was more or less spacious, but there was no ventilation at all. I had to leave my curtain open just to get some cool (smokey) air in my capsule as I slept. I realize this is a 1 star place with polite and respectful staff that sheltered me during a typhoon which I am thankful for, but as a place to stay normally, it was not that great even for a regular price of 2,500 yen per night (I paid 5,400 yen for the typhoon day). For a regular stay in Tokyo, I'd recommend dishing out the yen and booking at least a...
Read moreFew minutes away from Ueno train station and surrounded by many shops, restaurants and let's not forget a great park entertained by a zoo, museums, shrines, temples and many more.. if you enjoy lively environments, you would be served. As for the hostel itself, excepted for the fact that the elevator did not stop on the second level I believe for safety and ladies privacy, I've completely enjoyed my experience there. On the ladies floor, it felt slightly as being at a spa with the relaxing continuous background music, the beautiful garden, the provided pajamas, towels and other commodities offered. The personnel was very helpful, professional and nice! This hostel added to the great experience encountered throughout our...

There are only three small tables. Obviously not the hostels problem but for some reason men like to meet at the common room even though they have about 5 floors of other spaces they could meet.
Overall the hostel isn't too friendly, they didn't tell us that a yellow sheet if paper you get is essentially your key because it's what you use to exchange for your Locker key every time you leave the hostel. If you lose your sheet, couldn't anyone find it and redeem it for your Locker key?
The English instructions for things can be confusing. Personally I did not understand what this meant, it was in the...
