Visiting this Japanese onsen was an incredibly relaxing experience and a wonderful way to connect with a centuries-old cultural tradition. Onsens have long been a significant part of Japanese culture, believed to have therapeutic benefits for both the body and mind. This onsen had a variety of baths to choose from, including three different hot baths, a cold bath, and a peaceful resting room. The sauna was available for an additional cost, offering an extra level of relaxation for those seeking it.
My favorite part of the experience was the outdoor hot bath. The contrast between the warm water and the cool, crisp air was invigorating and refreshing, providing a perfect balance of relaxation and rejuvenation. It felt incredibly soothing to sit in the bath, surrounded by nature, while the chilly air refreshed my skin. The atmosphere of the onsen was calm and serene, encouraging mindfulness and peace.
Overall, the onsen was not only a chance to unwind physically but also a deep dive into a rich Japanese tradition that prioritizes health, relaxation, and community. Whether you’re visiting for the cultural experience or simply to enjoy the therapeutic waters, this onsen offers an unforgettable and...
Read moreThis is a bustling bathhouse in a quiet neighborhood. I visited around 4 to 5 pm and the bath area was packed. Even as an onsen connoisseur, this was too much of a uncomfortable proximity for me. Almost touching shoulders.. and when I wasn't, I'd be facing another person in the bath.
So yeah, way too busy for me. They have all the usual amenities of a bathhouse/onsen. Milk vending machines etc. One thing that disturbed me was the coin machines for hair blow dryers. As if the 520 yen entrance fee for the bath alone wasn't already kind of high for such a low quality and high population bathhouse. I didn't need to use it because I have short hair, but I've just personally never seen a bathhouse where they charge you to dry your hair.
Overall, if there had not been so many people, I might have given this 3 or 4...

I was talking with my friends in a very low voice so as not to disturb people in the outside part of the bath (rotenburo), where Japanese usually talks with friends, when suddenly the manager made a humiliating gesture with his hand to tell me to be quiet and then spoke to me in a demeaning manner, but what affected me the most was his look full of hatred towards foreigners...
I haven't experienced many cases of racism during my 2 years living in Japan but this experience was definitely...
