Nice interior but everything else was average. It wasn't even 70% seated on a Sunday (around 11.30am) and we had to wait about 15min in line before we could order at the counter. Food were already prepared and displayed next to the counter. So it took ages for them to warm up one quiche and bring it along with the two sandwiches. The 2 soy lattes took even longer, it came separately after the food arrived.
Overall expensive and slow for a pretty much self service system. Order at the counter, self-serve water and staff told us to put our used dishes when we finished eating. The return area wasn't organised properly or looked after by the staff for customers to do so, I had to rearrange the used dishes from previous customers for me to fit my used dishes, water cups, coffee cup and cutlery. I really don't mind self service but if you are charging this price for trying to be a nice chill cafe, you have to at least give the right amount of customer service. One latte was about 550yen for I would say small cup +150yen to have it with soy milk. We paid a total of 6500 yen for two small soy lattes, one quiche, one egg bun, one sandwich to have there and to take away a few croissants. 😨
I had a negative experience as well at the other Iki location close by a long time ago. Thought to try this new place out since the interior was very appealing. Maybe their customer service had improved if they were doing well enough to have another cafe. But I am left with a unpleasant experience again I...
Read moreFor my friend and I, I ordered two cappuccinos and two sandwiches, and a cinnamon bun which we intended to split and I. I asked if the cinnamon bun could be cut in half. The cashier said I could do it myself at the table with the knife included in the silverware. The waiter brought out two tepid cappuccinos and ONE sandwich. He also brought out the cinnamon bun. Which was getting cold while we waited for the other sandwich to arrive. It was some time in coming. There is a basic lack of understanding in Japan which I have observed over the last 20 years, of the idea that when people go out to dine together, they expect to dine "together" and not for each person to eat while the other person has nothing. It suggests poor training of staff. Because the second sandwich was so long in coming, we showed the server the receipt and it seemed that the staff had not read the order carefully and had made only one sandwich. We asked the server to take the cinnamon bun back and have it reheated after the second sandwhich had been served. He told us that he could not do that. The shop has a trendy appearance, but I sensed that the staff had an "attitude". Personally, I wouldn't go...
Read moreA must-visit café if you’re in the Kiyosumi-shirakawa neighborhood! Tucked right next to the Sumida River and only a few minutes on foot from the station, iki Roastery & Eatery is a spacious, welcoming spot that blends a modern vibe with a relaxed atmosphere. Seating is available across both the first and second floors, so there’s plenty of room to settle in.
Their food and drink menu is excellent, but don’t skip checking out the cabinet of fresh sandwiches and pastries—everything looks tempting. We went for the mixed plate, paired with a Dark Roast Blend iced coffee and a Manuka honey lemonade. The drinks were refreshing, and the mixed plate made for a satisfying start to the day!
