This is an interesting store. It feels like a small or family run business. They do everything from pencils to framing, oil painting to pastel, watercolor to acrylic, the whole thing, sketch to frame.

Tokyo Hands are more for hobbyists. Uematsu are a step up and provide supplies for professionals. You are paying a little more for better results which last longer.

In addition to having a generous range of materials, the owner develops his own materials. Also on the ground floor are special Japanese color resources, which I’ve never seen before. It’s a real place of adventure!

Ein Paradies für Künstler – riesige Auswahl und beste Qualität! Wer auf der Suche nach hochwertigem Künstlerbedarf in Tokio ist, sollte unbedingt bei Uematsu Japanese Art Supply vorbeischauen. Ich war auf der Suche nach einem feinen Pinsel mit Marderhaar – und wurde hier fündig! Die Auswahl ist wirklich beeindruckend, sowohl was Pinsel als auch Farben angeht.

Ob traditionelle japanische Tusche, Aquarellfarben, Acryl oder Ölfarben – hier findet man alles, was das kreative Herz begehrt. Die Regale sind prall gefüllt und sehr gut sortiert. Besonders toll: Es gibt auch viele spezialisierte Materialien, die man sonst nur schwer findet, ideal für Illustratoren, Kalligrafie-Künstler oder Maler, die mit traditionellen Techniken arbeiten.

Der Laden wirkt von außen eher unscheinbar, aber innen eröffnet sich eine Schatzkammer an Materialien – übersichtlich, gepflegt und mit einem gewissen Charme. Das Personal war freundlich und hilfsbereit, selbst wenn man nur mit wenigen japanischen Worten auskommt.
