I grew up with this mall, so I'll try to be as fair as possible without being too one sided.. This place was great when it first opened with their indoor theme park and snow place if I remembered correctly and the outdoor theme park was beautiful. Not to mention the famous boat ride, it was first and only mall if not mistaken with this attraction but over the years, you can see in decline of popularity after the indoor theme park closed down for more shops, outdoor theme park closed down to be abandoned ground. Plus, the poorly maintained toilets and flooding underground parking + took over of mall by Capital Land made it worst. It is sad to see that this once a beautiful and bustling mall is now close to be a white elephant. The cashless parking system is utter disgrace and disgusting. The lifts are slow, there is no more bowling or karaoke or anything worth attracting crowds nowadays except for the TGV cinema and the ferry ride but that is also slowing down trying to survive. From a 2 story Macro to a 2 sotry Giant if not mistaken then to a 1 story Tesco which is now a Lotus. You can see this place is slowly deteriorating in terms of shopping quality and number of shoppers. This place was a part of the vision of a bigger development from what I heard, with Mines 2 as an extension, MIECC for exhibition, hotel resorts and spa for quick getaway, golf range for avid golfers, expensive bungalow houses where Mahathir is living now and also a premium condo to fully bring this whole development up. Not to mention the landscaping, was serene and romantic. But sadly, what is going on now is definitely not the plan they were hoping for. I really hope this place will be brought back to it's former glory instead of letting it be like that.
Since I worked there before, the shop owners are actually complaining that despite the reduce in numbers of shoppers, the mall management still increases their rental to a ridiculous amount that most of them decides to close their shop and move somewhere. This is really heartbreaking to hear that the management is not doing anything they can to help but instead the other way around.. I thought Capital Land is a famous shopping mall management...

Ā Ā Ā Read moreA mid size mall that is more than 20 years old. However it was refurbished from 2010 and doesn't look aged. Variety of shops are more local. There are no Uniglo, H&M, etc.
However, lots of chain eateries from Pizza Hut to KFC to Teochew Chendol, Chicken Rice Shop, etc. Didn't see any food court.
Sadly Giant closed down more than a year ago. There is an up-scale supermarket called Olives. For other basic necessities, there is Mr DIY.
Parking is affordable especially during the weekdays : RM1 for first three hours and RM1 for each subsequent hour. Weekends : RM3 for first 3 hours and RM1 for each subsequent hour.
My reasons for NOT giving 5 stars are the strange cashless parking payment machines and the STENCH from the greenish canal. Some eateries are next to the canal and I didn't eat at those places! Then the parking machines are confusing to use and caused delays for people who never used it before. My advice : just use TnG when you enter the parking areas. No surcharge but MUST have minimum RM20 on...
