Cabo City Tours — Local services in Baja California Sur

I’d say the tour was one of the best decisions I’ve made in this trip. Our tour guide and a local activist, Kristian, taught us so much about the history, geography, culture, biology, and more about his beloved hometown Los Cabos. We wouldn’t have been able to learn the information if we didn’t take this tour. His organization is run by a group of 7 volunteers who devote their time to provide education programs and extracurricular activities to local youths and adults so they feel welcomed and belonged to the community. All the tour proceeds from the tour is going towards the free programs in Spanish. I feel so inspired by his story and devotion to help others and feel much more connected to this beautiful town more than ever thanks to him. The tour itself is 1.5 hours, involves pretty short walking around downtown San Jose del Cabo, and is fun and informative - you’ll learn things that are not written anywhere on tourism blogs or YouTube videos. It was just 30 USD per person which is dirt cheap compared to other activities in Cabo. Plus you’re supporting local community, not some greedy rip-off tour companies. We were the only people for the night. Even though I really appreciated the private tour with Kristian, I think the tour deserves more attentions and bigger audiences for what is worth. Really everyone who comes to Cabo should take this tour. It is Los Cabos 101. I hope he and other volunteers keep going at what they’re doing and succeed in their mission....

Pretty cool walking tour of the historic area and plaza. Kristian is a committed and dedicated local who grew up in and loves San Jose del Cabo. As a result he has seen lots of change and has begun, with several friends, history tours to educate local students about the history and beautiful culture of SJC that is threatened by development and gentrification. Our tour price underwrites the school work costs (very cool) and was a condensed version of the 4-hour tours they do with students so some parts were a bit basic for us, but still appreciated. As organizers back in the U.S. we know the importance of local folks to movement-building so we suggest the tour organizers develop materials, digital and written, explaining the why and how of the tour that participants could take with and/or share to this spread the good work. Fantastic walking tour! Kristian was a wonderful guide - very knowledgeable and friendly, and his passion for his community is evident. I would recommend taking this tour early in your trip so that you can better appreciate your time in downtown San Jose del Cabo - and because I took the tour early, we had time to schedule a separate excursion with Kristian who took us mountain biking on the outskirts of SJDC! Kristian was an excellent mountain biking guide, attentive to our fitness and experience levels, and we knew we were in good hands when he knew almost everyone we passed on the trail. The trails are a good mix of difficulty levels and had beautiful views of SJDC. Kristian provided quality mountain bikes and pick-up and drop-off in his VW bug from our accommodation.
