De Indian Mart — Local services in Amsterdam

I am unaware of any Indian grocery store, other than De Indian Mart, which is closer to the city centre. Located on Kinkerstraat, very close to the Food Halls and Ten Kate street market, the shop is long and narrow, like so many others in the city.

Almost every review that I read about this store mentions how nice and attentive the owners are, which is very reassuring.

It's only once you've in the store that you begin to realise what a massive assortment of produce is available. The offerings of supermarket chains pale into insignificance.

If you are into cooking and Indian cuisine, here you'll find all the recipe book ingredients, some of which are not easily available elsewhere. There's also a superb selection of packaged spice mixes which have been specially selected to produce and enhance meat, fish and vegetarian dishes; Or you could buy the Indian Mart Spice Box which has the ingredients for some 50 recipes.

There are snacks galore, together with Indian sweets and confectionery. The deep freeze offerings are great for those planning ahead.

Besides food, the store has Ayurveda products, cosmetics and incense.

If you're not into cooking, or you just want to treat yourself, Indian Mart offers a mouth-watering selection of homemade ready meals. In addition to classics such as Butter Chicken and Chicken Korma, there's a good assortment of vegetarian dishes and often a daily special. Great choice for an authentic...

I just had the perfect paneer pakora and the perfect veg samosa, i love it!!Not too spicy, not fat, fresh fried, sold with lots of warmth , a smile from the owner of the shop and authenticity. It's all about the positive experience in the shop. That makes the food yummy! Owner is from India and smiling, making a chat, so open, enthusiastic, and warm. I felt really welcome! I discovered this amazing store on Google Maps (thanks Google ☺️📍), just to buy long grain basmati rice, earlier in 2021.

When I walked i was pleasantly surprised that the store sold an exceptionally wide variety of Indian products and groceries!

On 4 November 2021 (Diwali 🪔💫) I ordered starters, mains and sweetmeats from the store via WhatsApp! The service was beyond impeccable - they made sure I celebrated a wonderful Diwali!

The store has exceeded my expectations and I will definitely be back for both Indian groceries...
