Fishtown Takeaways — Local services in Palmerston North

We went there at about 5:45pm. Standard takeaway shop. $52 later (two jumbo and one small container), I was rather excited to sink into this meal. Not very impressed at all with tonight’s smorgasbord. Clearly the rice had been reheated from the night before, it was dry, hard and truly inedible. The mini fish, stunk and again… so dry. The dumplings belong in the bin, the pastry was so thick yet the filling smelt off. My partner would normal eat everything but even he was put off at the dumplings and the egg fu young and they are usually his favourites. We won’t be going back, should’ve stuck to our usual, Albert Street Takeaways! The only decent items were the wontons and the noodles. For what we paid, we would expect freshly cooked food. I am so disappointed in my order! I ordered chicken and vegetable on rice and a chicken chop suey and a fish burger and chicken burger and chips.

Chicken on rice: was mainly vegetable and a small amount of rice on the side! Chicken chop suey: was NOT chop suey! It was basically the same as the chicken vegetable dish without rice! Fish burger: fish had black skin all through it slapped on some lettuce Chicken burger: very basic Chips: soggy and yuck!

$55 and totally disappointed will never go there again!

They need to change there dish name from chop suey to chick and vegetable dish. Because a chop suey is vermicelli with meat...

UPDATE 14 Jan 2024: I notice there has been another price increase since Nov 2023. If this keeps creeping up, I don't think I will want to go there any longer. I can accept costs have gone up but other takeaways don't keep increasing their prices so often.

Previous review: Ownership changed recently, in July 2023 I believe. I know costs have gone up like everything else. But now their fried rice is $19.80 ( unless it was a mistake ). It was only $17.30 2 weeks ago! Other items have probably gone up too.
