Visiting The Square in Palmerston North is like stepping into the heart of the city's history and community. This central park area, originally inhabited by the Ngāti Rangitāne iwi, has evolved into a vibrant hub that blends historical significance with modern-day charm. The expansive 17-acre space features lush lawns, mature trees, fountains, gardens, and a tranquil pond, making it a perfect spot for relaxation and people-watching.

What makes The Square truly special is its historical context. Before European settlers arrived in the mid-1800s, the area was known as Papaioea. Today, it serves as a reminder of Palmerston North's roots, with various historic memorials and buildings dotting the landscape and surrounding streets.

Whether you're interested in history, looking for a peaceful place to unwind, or just wanting to explore the heart of the city's CBD, The Square is a must-visit. Its mix of natural beauty and cultural significance provides a unique sense of place that resonates with both locals and...
