Located Palmerston North. Open 10am to 4pm, 7 days a week. Adults $15 child $6 , card and cash payment ( no pay wave)(Closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Day, Good Friday) The New Zealand Rugby Museum contains New Zealand's biggest and most comprehensive collection of rugby memorabilia and records, including some of the world's rarest rugby artefacts. Test out your rugby skills - kicking, tackling, leaping, sprinting and pushing - in the 'Have a Go' area.

Today I listened to a talk on the history of the Museum by Stephen Berg. The buildings, the founders, the significance of the objects in the Museum to tell the stories of the game. I was able to handle a replica of the first "All Blacks" team jersey. Currently there is an exhibition on Women's rugby which took months to research. A proud history of NZs national game is right here in Palmerston North

A pleasantly laid out circular amble through NZ rugby history. Early exhibits reveal the raw toughness of the founding game and the memorabilia is interesting. The displays seem to devolve in quality as the years progress, giving way to gay colours and exposing the softening changes that has seen rugby deteriorate as a male sport. Worth a one off visit.

It was great! It was wicked to look at all of the history from when rugby first began through to now :) I am unsure of her name but the lady who was working today (11/02) at around 12.50pm was so lovely! she knew heaps about all that was on display and more and was extremely kind in showing me replica jerseys, explaining the markings on one of them and showing me how people got into stadiums etc, she was excellent :) It is an awesome place to go...
