We just spent 2 weeks skiing in Japan. We caught the Nagano Snow Shuttle to Shiga Kogen. They were very reliable and delivered us right to the door of the accommodation. In Shiga Kogen we stayed at the Prince Hotel West. They looked Fter us and, although the room was on the small side, we had a wonderful ski in/ski out experience. The skiing was fantastic, especially the trees runs and the 3 advanced runs. The only issue was the availability of food. This is not your usual ski resort with a town. At the Prince Hotel West They offered a very expensive Buffet. We found a Chinese restaurant and a Ramen restaurant next door which were a little cheaper. They have evening Shuttle buses to take you to other restaurants but these were generally booked out by people staying there. Other than the skiing, our highlight was visiting the Snow Monkeys. A 2 k walk in and out but certainly worth it. Next, we caught the Inter Resort Shuttle to Hakuba. Again, they picked us up from the hotel and dropped us off at our hotel in Happo One Village. We stayed at the Rosenheim hotel. A little old and dated but they staff were exceptional and the facilities were very good. An excellent location for Hakuba. Hakuba is a large busy town and offers a great experience. The daily shuttles pick you up from the door or just a short walk at the bottom of the ski tows. Unfortunately Hakuba is very popular and so the crowds detracted from the experience. All restaurants were booked out, the shuttles full and the ski runs busy. We left Hakuba and headed to Shinjuku for 2 nights. This meant we couldn't catch the Snow Shuttle. The bus we did catch was a local bus stopping at all towns. Much slower but yo get to see more county side. Are booking agent did a wonderful job and it all went smoothly. We are looking forward to going back to Japan...

Read moreMy wife and I travelled with our 13 and 11 year old and had one of our best holidays ever! Anna at Mountainwatch Travel planned us the best trip and made it all very easy for us. The accommodation, rentals, ski passes were all excellent. We had the best holiday with 7 nights in Hakuba with some of the best skiing we have ever experienced. We also tagged on 3 nights in Tokyo where we took in some shopping and Tokyo Disney. We stayed in two different hotels in Hakuba which worked really well as we were able to experience two different sides of Happo town. Both had walking access to Happo One and shuttles close by to get to the other resorts. The all of valley passes were great so we could use the free bus service and choose a different resort whenever we wanted to. We had great instructions from Anna to get us from Narita Airport to catch the bullet train out to Nagano and it was very easy. We would do this holiday again and travel the same way. The direct Air New Zealand flight from Auckland to Narita made this very accessible to families. We can't wait to book our next overseas ski trip now! Thanks Anna and...
